The only reason I booked this three day holiday to Taunton was to see one particular locomotive on the WSR and, as it was their flagship I had no doubt that it would be on view. I was wrong. It was inside the shed at Williton and the gate was locked with nobody available (or willing) to let me see... More

We took the opportunity of celebrating our wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. What a wonderful day. Parking is an issue but understandable given the popularity of the place, the staff do their best to get everyone in safely and quickly. The experience starts with getting the tickets, the staff polite and once in receipt of our little authentic cardboard... More

At Bishops Lydeard there was plenty of free parking spaces and a separate entrance for the disabled parking. All the staff/volunteers greeted us as we walked to the Booking Office. A Day Rover for a Senior Citizen was £16.80 but, as this is the longest heritage railway in England, it is really good value for money. Give yourself plenty of... More

On arrival, it is not easy to see where the disabled parking is on the site. We had to ask. However, the train experience was excellent. Being the longest preserved railway we felt we had been on one of the express trains of old going to the seaside. The line is in an excellent state of preservation and, what I... More

Bought half price ticket from groupon for£9.50 and really good value for this price. Not sure I would have been so happy if full price paid but the railway is all run by volunteers which is very impressive so must need to cover their costs. Amazingly authentic even down to the old fire buckets on the stations. Uniforms of station... More

This is a great day out for all ages! We did a return trip Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. The scenery is lovely. There is not much to do at the Bishops Lydeard end, which is a short walk from the station. Walked down to the old mill which is closed out of season. Pretty place and probably worth a visit... Every time we go to Minehead we usually take a trip on the WSR. The staff are pleasant and have a bit of fun with the passengers and most, if not all are volunteers. I even saw one of my neighbours in his porter's uniform and I wasn't aware that he was a volunteer! You can buy a day ticket... More

The trip to the Railway was supposed to be the highlight of our month long vacation. We visited in Aug 2012 for the steam fair. During a downpour on the Saturday, we, two seniors with walking problems, asked a WSR person in a booth if we could shelter from the storm in her booth. He reply was very Hoity-toity. Only... More

Attended the recent winter festival, thought it was alittle pricey, but happy that money goes back into the trains. A fantastic engine took us from minehead to watchet and after an hour exploring the harbour made the return journey back. Nicely heated and conditioned carriages, entertaining staff, its great we can still experience this history in motion!
