We went from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead on one of their steam trains. On arrival at Bishops Lydeard station we were told where to park by the car park volunteers . We arrived 35 minutes before the departure time and there was quite a long queue to buy tickets which we could have prevented if we had booked online and... More

We planned a whole day out with a rover ticket which allowed unlimited travel for the day. This meant that we could hop on and off at different stations and explore. Staff are all volunteers, and we're extremely pleasant and informative. Food is available on the train and at some stations and is not expensive again possibly as the staff... More

We booked Diner and afternoon Tea 1st Class on the Quantock Belle from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead as a Birthday treat. What a day!!!! the train was spotlessly clean as were the carriages and the food was beautifully cooked. The staff were all dressed up in their livery and looked after us very well. Food all cooked on board, a... More

It's hard to fault the West Somerset. Nice countryside, coastal views, climbs to work the engines, a variety of stations from the 'main line' ambiance at Bishops Lydeard through the time capsule that is Crowcombe Heathfield through to the harbourside Watchet station and the classic terminus at Minehead. An interesting museum at Washford also. Trains were long and well-patronised and... More

Lovely day out for all the family and you can use your Tesco days out tokens to but tickets. Great fun on steam train reliving childhood memories and introducing today's generation to yesterday's life style!

if you want nostalgia then look no further than a trip on the West Somerset Railway. As we were only at Blue Anchor for a short time we caught the steam train from Blue Anchor to Watchet. The stations are really well done out to give the feeling of a bygone age of the 40s/50s and 60s. The staff are... More

Travelled from Bishops Lyddard station by steam to Minehead, a beautiful journey through the countryside on a warm April day, thankfully not in a coach with screaming children, not too full either, which was good. Arrived in Minehead by lunch time. The crazy golf was fun, the cafe was reasonable too. Walked along the beach and visited the amusement arcades... More

joined the train at the second station but the train was very full as most (kids) had joined Bishops lydeard (the main car park) it was a shame we had to stand for part of the journey. Well organised with easy to understand timetable. Nice to be able to jump off and on at the different stations. We took the... More

We went on this from Bishops Lydyard to Minhead, and had a wonderful time. The Journey is really nice, EXCELLANT countryside, and nice stops where you can hop on and off. Very reasonably priced, we live in the Midlands and have the Severn Vallery railway, which is substantialy more expensive. Very good day, well worth doing, staff on the train... More
