This is the best attraction not only in Somerset but one of the best in the South of England. The staff are the nicest and hardest working you will find anywhere and their dedication shines through. We were in the Day Rover ticket which allows you to get on and off at any or all stations all day, and was... More

went on a return trip from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard on a rainy day, but the journey was really good and made you forget the weather!! There is a museum at Bishops Lydeard and a lovely buffet and shop, all which you will have time to explore before boarding the train for your return journey. There was also a buffet... More

We traveled the whole line to Minehead. Its quite picturesque. Steam services are not full time so enquire if you want to be on a steam train rather than a diesel.

We did the return journey from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. We stayed on the beach for 2-3 hours at Minehead then traveled back. It was enjoyed by all 12 of us. Fully recommend. Only slight downside is that if you don't get on quick enough you may have to stand, we didn't but lots of others did.

Exactly what we thought it would be, an excellent day. Picnic on the train! We spent the day at Dunster Castle, Awesome. Grandson loved the whole experience. All staff friendly and very enthusiastic about the experience. All of the stations were very well maintained and kept the character. A fantastic day for all age groups and our family.

Very well organised and beautifully maintained, faithfully recreating days gone by. Staff very friendly. A pleasant way to travel to Dunster on a damp morning, just watching the countryside go by. Worth noting a reduction in cost for Dunster castle entrance on production of train ticket. Downside? Instant coffee from the buffet car......

We went on the train yesterday. Our trip was from from Watchett to Minehead - about 30 minutes in all. Cost for 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 9,9 and 11) was about £42 for a return. The trains are clean and well maintained and the staff are knowlegable and friendly. We bought a family ticket and a child ticket... More
