The trip to the Railway was supposed to be the highlight of our month long vacation. We visited in Aug 2012 for the steam fair. During a downpour on the Saturday, we, two seniors with walking problems, asked a WSR person in a booth if we could shelter from the storm in her booth. He reply was very Hoity-toity. Only... More

Attended the recent winter festival, thought it was alittle pricey, but happy that money goes back into the trains. A fantastic engine took us from minehead to watchet and after an hour exploring the harbour made the return journey back. Nicely heated and conditioned carriages, entertaining staff, its great we can still experience this history in motion!

This is one of those fun activities that are a "Must Do" on a trip to the Minehead, Dunster, Blue Anchor and Watchet area especially if you have kids or grandparents with you. The Steam Railway is run entirely by volunteers and you will not believe how authentic the experience. It is quite hard to describe, and you must ride... More

Kids loved going on a steam train. Wasn't expensive and good regular times. Stops at lots of places so can get on and off as please.

Took the Santa Express on 22 December with 2 year old granddaughter. Very disappointing. The staff were not at all interested in the ocassion and little short of rude. Santa made a mad dash along the train accompanied by sullen and miserable elves. The sherry and mince pie was grudgingly dispensed by more rude people dressed as elves. Ver expensive... More

How wonderful to be passed, whilst doing the shopping, by a steam train less than ten metres away! If you live locally (as I do) you can purchase for £10 a journey pass which entitles you to half price travel for two years. An excellent attraction for the town and practical form of transport to boot.

A gentle and delightful trip through Somerset. Plenty to see along the way and I would recommend getting on and off anywhere along the way. We chose to walk part of the West Somerset coastal path from Watchet to Dunster and although the pathway was occasionally difficult to follow it was a great way to spend the day.

Recently took the Santa Express ride with the family. Bit of a waste of money sadly. Santa was odd and his little elves were disinterested and sadly lacked any christmas cheer! On the plus side the lovely jolly older staff were much more fun. However for the expense I would save your money and find something more enjoyable.

Four steam locos operating and an hour and a half each way from Minehead. 'Staff =Volunteers' so helpful and enthusiastic, pity they are not running the 'big railways'. A brilliant trip and very popular but plenty of space.

What a lovely day out. We were staying in mine head in November with another couple at Oakfield B&B, and our hosts recommended this wonderful journey on the steam train. STaff are so friendly and helpful and they make the journey as special as the destination (crowcombe- a step back to a nicer time!) did you know a Hard Day's... More
