This attraction hits the spot for all age groups. If you loved "Heartbeat" on the TV you will love this. Nothing has changed here since the 1960's, all the stations look untouched since then. With old fashioned values and friendly staff, ( who are mostly unpaid). We all love to see a working steam train and for young children it... More

Back in the day I was a keen trainspotter along with hundreds of other kids, lurking on station platforms and sidings, trying to spot namers and make a line in my Ian Allan book or highlight the train I just spotted with a coloured pen; red for a namer, green for a double header and so on. Then diesel and... More

Have travelled on this line many times. Scenery is pretty and varied; coast, fields, wooded areas. Travelled from Bishops Lydeyard to Minehead and back. On arriving back at Bishops Lydeyard, I decided to purchase a WSR logo'd polo shirt for my husband. The man behind the counter was wearing the type I wanted. When I enquired about buying one, I... An awesome story, experience and legacy of an amazing period of our history. This is the longest live railway in the UK, and has been running preserved trains since the mid seventies. The total journey time from end to end is around 90 minutes with 10 characterful stations dotted down the line manned by the near 1000 friendly volunteers who... More

The railway is well run, and it runs on time! It is a trip down memory lane for many people and a slice of history for younger ones. We boarded at Bishop's Lydeard and travelled to Dunster; we can thoroughly recommend this trip if you want to avoid the more traditional seaside haunts of Minehead. Dunster is a charming old... We first visited and rode on the railway in May and have just returned to travel again. it brings back memories of childhood and travelling on the steam train. Stations were well cared for and the little museum at Bishops Lydeard fun to visit. A good day out and good value.
