Highclere Castle is stunning and thinking of Downton Abbey series, it bought the series to life. The staff were so very very helpful and knowledgeable . Walking through the rooms and looking out to the beautiful gardens was a great delight . Highclere is not the biggest of castles but has a wonderful feel . We had a very good... More

This was all done at short notice, just went in the afternoon without booking and managed to get in (three of us). The grounds are really beautiful but didn't quite have time to see the full extent. Inside the castle, all very familiar from 'Downton' series but great to see it first hand. We also saw the Egyptian exhibition (... More

My cousin and I spent 3 hours in the castle. We follow Downton Abbey and enjoyed being where it is filmed. The furnishings, chandeliers, paintings and architecture is stunning.

If you are a fan of Downton Abbey, this is such a fun trip. The house itself is a lot smaller than it appears on tv, but it's still a lovely day trip if you're visiting London. The surrounding gardens and countryside are just beautiful. And you can have a nice lunch or spot of tea at their cafes. I... More

We visited Highclere Castle today and were very disappointed. The gardens are very nice but nothing special. The house was, again, nice but nothing special. Like many others we visited because it id the Downton Abbey of the TV series. Very little advantage was made of this fact in the limited information that was available in each room. The house... A must see for any "Downton Abbey" fan. Tour includes the first floor sitting rooms and second floor bedrooms, as well as the Egyptian exhibit in the basement.

Well worth a visit if you're in the area or a Downton fan. Don't miss the more formal gardens which are a bit hidden away a short walk from the house.

I couldn't agree more with the previous review, 'Downton disappointment'. We booked online, in advance with almost all of the tickets selling out well in advance, only to find they were just selling tickets to anyone who turned up on the day. I wouldn't have minded this but they had clearly sold far too many tickets already and despite following... More

Visited on a rainy day but we loved it here! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and it was just amazing to see 'Downton Abbey'. Just a tip - if you pre-book your ticket, don't feel you have to turn up at the earliest time stated as it would be as well to look around the gardens first... More

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting Highclere castle last week. The main reason that we visited was because of Downton abbey and after reading some peoples reviews I nearly didn't go, but so pleased we did. The rooms are laid out in exactly the same we as the TV programme and did not disappoint. Having watched the show since it started it was... More
