Queued for a long time getting into the grounds for the county show. Lacked parking attendants to ease traffic jams & assist with organised parking. Then further queuing for entry to the county show, once through it it was fantastic! We enjoyed the shows in the arena. Best thing was Devils Kingsmen stunt riders - Google them!! A m a... More

We were there for the market last Monday. Surprised for the beauty of the property, the organisation of the event, great food, different stands, great environment.

My partner and myself have been visiting historic houses, castles and palaces for over 30 years. It is our passion and we have seen good, bad and indifferent properties in every corner of the world. We both work for an international airline and spend every vacation pursuing our passion, so we are extremely well travelled and experienced in historic house... More

Visited this house because it is the Downton setting. Of course it never quite lives up to expectations. A strange structure that is really not pleasing to the eye. The interior is not overly special and the non public areas resemble hotel rooms. The best of it is the Egyptian Exhibition...well done....bravo as Mrs Crawley would exclaim. The gardens and... We visited Highclere with a walk-up ticket in early May. If you do not have pre-booked tickets and want to see the castle you should try a walk-up. Arrive a bit early, and it should be ok. Anyway, it was really cool to visit a working castle. The audio guide and room guides were informative and the staff were very... More

Being fans of the television programme Downton Abbey we booked with a local coach firm Parry's Coaches of Cheslyn Hay, West Midlands. The entire trip was enjoyed by everyone on the coach who were from a large range of ages. The coach company prides itself for putting the passengers first and this they did from start to finish. Our accommodation... More

We were lucky enough to get tickets for the early Easter opening by ordering early!! (November for March). We had wanted the afternoon and the tea, but they were already sold out, so we went in the morning (10:30 AM). I do not think you miss much by not going to a tea You can get to Highclere by train... Excellent insight to days gone by. The country setting, grounds, fully furnished original house give you a trip back in time. The Egyptian exhibition is well worth a look. We took a picnic with us; refreshments are available. A good half day out

I should qualify this by saying that I have only been in the grounds and outbuildings (and probably in parts that the general public will not see) but any fans of Downton Abbey really must go. The vista as you approach the Castle makes your heart pound faster, and even from my perspective (down in a meadow below the house... More

I loved visiting HIghclere. It was a cold and incredibly windy day the day we went 5/5/15, but we managed to get the classic Downton Abbey shot. I was disappointed they don't let you take photos inside the house. I was also disappointed in the quality/selection of merchandise in the store, but I found overall it seemed in London that...
