The grounds, garden and castle were interesting to see and the guides in the rooms were able to answer most questions well. However as 50% probably of the visitors were there because they heard of the place du to the TV programme there should have been a bit more interesting comments regarding the show and its place in the differing... I was fortunate enough to visit Highclere Castle in July 2015, and was able to pre-book tickets online in February. When I arrived at Highclere at 11 a.m. on the day my tour was booked, there were still walk-up tickets available. Getting into the grounds was easy, and the cab ride from Newbury Station was 16 pounds. The grounds are... More

Wanted to see the castle where Downton Abbey was filmed! Grounds are as nice as you see in the series. Tea room was booked but we had a nice lunch outside the castle and it was really good!

We enjoyed the house but had no idea that there were so many Tourists that knew about Downton so it was busy with coach tours and took some time to see things in the house. Queueing to look into rooms was a little frustrating but it was busy so we just had to get on with it. Things got a... More

On the 13th July I took my American daughter-in-law to visit Highclere Castle. An avid fan of Downton Abbey she was so excited. We were thrilled to get tickets on the day as we had been unable to get them on-line. Our first view of the castle was impressive, it looked so grand as it came into view. Parking was... More

a little pricy to go in and see a castle, as I am on a student budget I only paid the 5 pounds to go into the garden area, and had a lovely picnic there! Allow at least an hour to walk around and literally smell the roses, the castle has impressive scenery and is situated in a lovely part... More

For me once you have seen a place like this you've seen them all but the wife likes Downton Abbey so off we went. Booked in at 1300 we were there well early so walked round the grounds not a great deal to see but a nice walk in fair weather By now time to see the rest was finished... More

Lovely relaxed day out. Not too much to see inside but lots of photos of HRH Queen Elizabeth II, even spotted Princess Diana in a couple of snaps. Parking is great, right next to the main entrance (which looks much grander on Downton Abbey!). My tip is keep an eye on all the family photos....lots of history there. Unfortunately we... More
