I visited Highclere Castle with my Mother, via a coach trip, I must say i have seen a lot better stately homes. We found the grounds of Highclere to be amazing with rolling hills, gardens, bleating sheep and acres of pastoral scenes. Just back from Highclere castle, (Downton Abbey), The grounds are beautiful, the castle is just like what you see on television, we are big fans, the rooms looked smaller, but what an experience, had coffee and cake in the tea rooms, just lovely.

What a delight to see this beautiful stately home. The grounds are stunning and the tour through the house was fascinating, brought all the memories of Downton flooding back ! Knowledgeable guides and a very relaxed feel to everything.

Visited 5th may 2013, purchased tickets on the day as were many people so do not have to pre book as it says on website. The house looks beautiful on the outside. The grounds are lovely.
