The premises may be small but it contains important local history and artefacts.Founded in 2008 by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers, immediately exhibits and stories came by the thousands, such was local interest to prevent there history from dying out.The centre is on a much more positive footing now and is moving to larger premises - only across the... We have wanted to visit but each time we passed it has been closed. However, as we passed today it was open. So pleased we visited. Small but very interesting place with lots of info on maritime Scarborough. The volunteer staff were enthusiastic and informative. Exhibitions change so it's worth visiting more than once.

Here is a treasure of a museum staffed by the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff. Although I knew of the bombardment of Scarborough, to talk to people with first hand knowledge of the results of the event is great. We also got an education in the local fishing industry thrown in. A must for anyone visiting the town.

Staffed entirely by enthusiastic volunteers this great little archive is well worth a visit. So many aspects of the history of this town are covered - from the Great Storm of 1881, to the cobles in the harbour; boatbuilding; knitting; you name it, someone has collected writings and photos and filed them here. Fantastic for the student, the researcher and... More

It gives you a vital part of the history of Scarborough from the point of it being a port, used to be a fishing port, but nearly died out now. But there is more than that to see here. GO AND VISIT IT.

This centre is located at the bottom end of Eastborough. It is only small but there is a wealth of maritime history in there, the volunteers are very helpful and friendly, It is a shame that they do not have bigger premises. Definitely well worth a visit

Local museum of Scarborough's fishing heritage full of historical history of Scarborough including books an award winning web site of tales of the sea. Excellent for doing research into Tunny Fishing, the Bombardment of 1914. The local fishing families with thousands of historical photos. Nice friendly staff ready to help you trace your fishing ancestry. Only draw back is the... More

Great day out in Scarborough looking at the history of this wonderful place through the ages, Richard 111rd was here as well as generations of fishermen, Roamans and all. Have a look at the local artists work for sale showing some of this history nearby also. Highly recommended for all ages. Paul Davies
