I live in Scarborough and I have to say that the gardeners work relentlessly all year to keep up to these gardens. At the height of summer they are stunning and not too shabby in the winter either. well worth a visit.

Lovely peaceful place to sit and admire the flowers and statuary. Quite correct, the building at the top was the setting for The Royal. In the 1950's it was a holiday home for the blind and the sensory garden was just across the road from it. Not sure if that is still there.

A lovely garden even in winter where the locals go to feed the squirrels this is super to watch and they are so tame.

Walking my dog through this beautiful area is a real pleasure, the whole area of South Cliffe is characterised by Victorian and Georgian splendour and the gardens with spectacular coastline views do not disappoint

One of the great treasures of Scarborough. They provide many gentle walks along the south cliff. Some are still maintained and remain

Great place for an after dinner walk, we especially enjoyed feeding the squirrels some of whom were quite cheeky - one even sat on lap! Feels really safe too. If you are parked at the top on the esplanade you can walk down to the beach and then take the tram(?) up if its open. Really enjoyed our time here.

this was my first visit to these gardens and I thought they were lovely and well worth a visit! We did go out of season, so I can imagine how beautiful they are when all the flowers are out too. Friendly squirrels, beautiful views, very serene...excellent!

The gardeners deserve a prize. These gardens are often missed, a real shame as they are stunning. The squirrels are fun too. Close to where The Royal is filmed if you're interested!

We always visit the Italian Gardens when we are in Scarborough as they change with the seasons. Plenty of paths down from the Esplanade or up from the beach to explore. There are lots of birds and squirrels around at this time of year too, A very different part of Scarborough compared to the very busy seafront.

Have not been here for forty years but I was pleased to see the gardens still being very well maintained.
