After quite a hike up the hill, we made it into the castle. Interesting and very good views from there.

Great views. Definitely worth the walk from the town to escape the hustle and bustle. Could do with a better distribution of staff. there was only one in the shop/ticket office which was packed and had a queue whilst another lady was simply trying to sell jam and wine which no one was buying.

The Castle is an English Heritage attraction, unlike some of their other properties, this one was well organised, even offering audio tour units included in the admission price. The audio tours are OK, but a bit wordy in places and the numbers that equate to each section are easily missed, the guided tours are much better, taking about 90 minutes,... More

We visited the castle yesterday with our two teenage sons. The walk up there is steep but isn't overly strenuous and the views are stunning. What really made it for us though was the tour guide. He was brilliant! With lots of enthusiasm, humour and some theatricals he was extremely entertaining, even our lads were laughing! Without doubt, join the... More

Worth the climb as the views from the hill are sublime. You don't need to pay to go into the castle to enjoy the view, the free view from the hill next to the entrance has the best views for photos.

Another bucket list attraction and we were not disappointed. The vast site is easy to get around, good guided tour if you want it, adequate café with delicious Tiffin slices and Oh my! The views are guaranteed to thrill. Once again the weather outdid itself and we had almost picture perfect views into the distance. From the high vantage point... More

Fantastic place to visit and great location even on a damp day - adds to the atmosphere. There is much more history to the headland than just the castle which I was surprised about. I visited with my husband and children (aged 5 and 6) parking just below the castle (need a parking disk - maximum stay of 2 hours).... More

the castle cafe served some of the best scones I have ever tasted in a really nice dining area. Great views and lots of space to run around.
