We travelled with a mixed bag of family and friend aged 4 to 45. My goodness we picked a blustery day to see this castle but it didn't put us off (4 year old was scared of the keep as the wind nearly blew her off her feet?!) nice walk around, took my dog, allowed in the cafe afterwards with... We decided to have a walk around the castle walls, some of the steps are a quite big so some people may struggle but the views are absolutely amazing so well worth it.

Our 2nd visit in two years and this time we caught a guided tour (free) which was very very good indeed and well recommended. Also please make use of the free audio guide from the gift shop as it adds to the experience no end. Would like to say well done for the repair work that has been done since... More

We visited on a sunny, but cold, Saturday afternoon. We didn’t have to pay the £13.50 family ticket entry as we are members of English Heritage. Good bits: * Free audio tour was very informative (both adults and children's) * Good facilities (café, toilets etc) - the coffee was very nice (£2.50 a cup but I felt worth it) *... More

Making the climb up to Scarborough Castle is a bit of a trek but it's well worth it. As so often happens, what might be just another historic monument is brought to life by the enthusiasm and helpful attitude of the staff. I paid £5.20 entry which I thought was very fair as you get an included audio tour. There was... More

Lots to see, great place to spend a day wandering, looking at the remains and the fantastic views. Really interesting guidebook and history too.

We paid a visit to the Castle in the Easter Holidays, with my grandchildren (6 yrs & 2 1/2 Years) The bracing winds on one side were worth putting up with as the views from the viewing platform are truly amazing, Scarborough looks beautiful from up there. The children enjoyed the visit as it does not take too long to... More

Irrelevant of which way you approach the castle, be prepared for some degree of breathlessness as a result of the very steep climb. We were frustrated that the front entrance was not properly manned to ensure everyone went through the gatehouse and paid. We saw the signage (which could be much clearer) and paid our entrance fee along with gift... More

Pricey for what it is, very high up so be prepared, great views over the beaches - an okay trip for an hour or so & worth a visit but I wouldn't go back.
