Unfortunately, we came here on a very bleak day when you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, but the staff were so friendly everywhere we went. We met some lovely eople in the cafe. Well worth the climb, particularly when there is a reenactment taking place. The group put their all into the day and the battles which take place. The views on a clear day are not to be missed.

If you've never been to Scarborough Castle you would get the impression of a really large castle with lots of entertainment. Unfortunately this may not be the case. The castle looks brilliant from the harbour but looks can be deceiving. So far I guess its not looking too good for the castle. However if you're lucky you will visit when... More

On our last visit to Scarborough, about 5years ago, we had been disappointed to find the castle closed, so it was high on our list this time. A steep climb to the entrance gate, and then only a slightly less steep slope to the castle itself, plus the welcome relief of the exhibition and cafe. Given its fantastic defensive position,... Amazing, they have Viking and Normandy battles that take place and lots of other exciting things. If you don't like walking the cliff top, then walk along the road above the cliffs to the last turn left and you will see Bay Hotels, go left at the Hotel and then right then left and you will walk past a church... Walked up to the castle calling in at St Mary's Church on the way and visited Anne Brontes grave, then onwards and upwards to the castle. Spent 3 hours there just looking at the old buildings and the wonderful views of Scarborough town and harbour from the top of the towers The children loved it and plenty of space to... More

What a fascinating and delightful day. We walked from the hotel stopping at the grave of Anne Bronte on the way up to the castle. The Castle itself is a treasure of hidden delights, there are concessions for families and pensioners. The ticket price was extremely generous for two adults and two children, with an audio guide as part of... More

Went here today as my partner loves castles. After nearly dying walking up the hill to get there we paid the £5.50 each to get in and £3 for a guide book. We had a walk round what remains of the castle and found the signs a little disappointing. It would be better this they had more information on them... More

Well kept very informative with a guide or an audio guide which was very good. Picnic area and cafe well kept. Views over Scarborough excellent. The weather that day was lovely warm and windy. Could be a little on the cold side later in the year. This is an English Heritage site.
