Nice surprise . If the day is sunny good spot for a picnic. Great views of the area from the top. Lovely walk around the out side which we did as the castle did not open till 10am and we were earlier. Cost £5.80 with gift aid per adult. There are shows put on for the kids.

If your a member of English Heritage then it's a 'must' for the views to both the North and South. If you have to pay the gateprice, however, then it's a bit marginal.

We visited on a lovely day so had the advantage of spectacular sea views. An amazing position with views of both bays and the town. It is wonderful that English Heritage allow dogs whenever possible and ours loves a nice monument! Tea room good and staff friendly. The town was busy and we paid for 2 hours parking on the... More

Really really enjoyed the castle. Only down side is parking... I got a parking ticket for parking at the bottom of the hill next to the church. Wont be making that mistake again!

Parking is a pain but worth the trouble. Great piece of history well displayed and interpreted. Great views of the town and an easy safe walk. Audio guide is free and adds to the experience.
