This is not really an attraction. This comment is not meant to be a criticism rather to say that this is a serious place of work for the protection and rescue of donkeys and as such that is what it focesses on.

When in east Devon a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary is an absolute must. I have been coming here for over 30 years and even now a always look forward to my visit. As well as the obvious work of donkey rescue, the Sanctuary also houses the Slade Centre which offers therapy to disabled children, which I believe is a... More

I treated my girlfriend to a visit as part of her birthday present and it was well worth the trip. What a beautiful place full of lovely donkeys in the rolling Devon countryside. Free to enter, but donations are welcome! The signage for the walks could do with being made clearer but we managed to stumble our way around!

Lots of lovely donkeys to visit in a great location with lots of nice walks. Amazing story of what one determined person set out to achieve.

Hands on fun with these lovely animals. A chance to get near to donkeys and learn more about them. Bus rides there available from Sidmouth and so it can be combined with a visit to the town,.Great for a picnic.

Not my kind of thing, or so I thought! Easy to find, ample car parking and no formal entrance fee made for a good start. The sanctuary itself is exceedingly well presented, with good facilities including the obligatory gift shop and tearooms, with good iinformation throughout the centre. The donkeys themselves are the most endearing animals I have encounted for... More

A great few hours out, visiting the donkeys. The staff do an amazing job and it is all free, great for kids, plenty of places for them to run and plenty of opportunities to stroke the donkeys. Word of advice take plenty of small change if you are taking little ones so as they can put money into the collection... More

Had a very relaxing visit to donkey sanctuary. Free attraction but well worth a donation. Lovely to see the donkeys so well looked after. Gift shop was very reasonable also, which makes a pleasant change. Well kept grounds for a nice stroll. Will definitely visit again.

Free attraction especially for children, but adults would like it too. They have a nice cafe and gift shop. Lots of car parking, but try the parking near the entrance because when we went there was sign that the main car park near the entrance was full and to use the overflow car park. When we drove to the main... More
