The cafe was a bit messy however with food on tables and floors and I did find it mildly depressing as there were so many memorials there ( to people), more like a memorial garden in a cemetery in places.... How can anyone leave a negative review for such a lovely place that is free? We visited in August and can honestly say that we were not pestered in any way for donations, one lady asked if we would like to buy a few items on entry but whats wrong with that? They do have a lot of Donkeys!

I have been back again for another visit because the donkeys are just great. There are so many and lots of fields to adventure to and have a look around. On wetter days the donkeys can often be found in the big barn and sometimes they are playful and having some fun together. You used to be able to pet... More

Even though it was soaking wet when we visited we still managed to have lots of fun. There is a large indoor barn where the donkeys congregate which offers plenty of opportunities to stroke and play with the animals. Throughout the outdoor space there are other areas dedicated to various breeds which provide a lovely scenic walk. The restaurant was... More

A leisurely wander around the meadows on a pleasant summers afternoon, didn't seem to be as many donkeys as my last visit or were they in a part I didn't visit. It covers a lot of acres so easy to miss some of it. The children really seem to enjoy the animals . Nice ice cream ,and restaurant. Stiff footpath... More

This sancturary is situated on hills above Sidmouth within sight of the sea. It is home to hundreds of donkies, in fields, on the hillside and in barns. It also has a riding centre for special needs children who obviously benfit greatly from being able to ride outside in fine weather and inside when not fine. Walks are marked outside... More

Why wouldn't you visit? A family friendly sanctuary with 100s of very happy donkeys. They are free to visit (and plenty of free parking) and love to have your attention. There are plenty of facilities like a shop, cafe, kids trails etc. but we paid a flying visit on our way home so just visited to pat a few donkeys... More

the work that is done here is wonderful, the donkeys are well looked after, so friendly, I expected a small area but found the donkeys had plenty of room, the wife does not like donkeys yet she came away talking about them, fantastic day well worth the free entrance
