Lovely grounds to explore with deer walking around freely. It's a great natural playground. There's fallen logs everywhere, which my kids love climbing all over. Lots of room for a picnic and fun!

Great setting here and makes for a lovely walk. Spoilt for me by needing to keep dogs on a lead - I do always clean up as necessary. Great short cut to Swan with 2 nicks which has dog-friendly bar. Watty

A magnificent Georgian mansion that was commissioned as a military hospital during WW1. It must rank as one of the NTs marque properties. Stands in extensive grounds /gardens , including a beautiful scented rose garden that is a sea of colour. The house is a treasure trove of delights as you wander from room to room soaking up the history... More

Great family location, large grounds with deer in and stately home to visit. I run through the gardens regularly early morning and the deer are really tame.

Great recreation of the Stamford hospital with true story of soldiers, nurses and family who lived there.

This is a poignant reflection on World War One as parts of the house have been converted back to Stamford Military Hospital until later this year. The dramatization of real-life incidents using actual patients' records makes compelling theatre. Regrettably, badly behaved toddlers running riot and screaming their little heads off was an unpleasant sideshow. I really don't understand why a... More

We walked around the house which was an interesting and educational experience about the time it was a hospital. We then went for ice cream which was very yummy. The walk around the gardens was very pretty and it was nice seeing the wildlife too.

We visited the Hall not realising that it had been taken back in time to the 1st World War when for nearly two years it served as Stamford Military Hospital. Re-enactors took the part of some of the wounded soldiers and the nursing staff which I found very emotive. The gardens and grounds are well maintained and the whole atmosphere... More

I love Dunham Massey. There's always so much to see. It does, however, get very busy at the weekend and is hardly the place for a relaxing, peaceful stroll, although it's obviously less busy in the winter. My recommendation is to go early evening midweek, after the crowds have gone home. The deer venture out of the reserve and wander... More

I was a wedding guest here for a family wedding, Dunham Massey is lovely venue with gorgeous grounds especially for wedding photos. However, the service for the Wedding Breakfast was terrible, it took ages for the food to come out and when it did tables would be in different courses by the time another table had the course. The staff... More
