My wife and I visited the Royal Lochnagar which is very close to Balmoral Castle. The distillery is small old and cute. The tour was instructive for a non expert.

Worth a visit. The staff were very informative and welcoming. The tour lasted about 45 minutes and ended with a dram. There is a shop on premises but it would have been nice to see a cafe or similar.

This distillery is one of the 3 or 4 left in Scotland (and probably the world) using original type of equipment. Our guide was very knowledgeable and truly loved Scotch which made for a more informed and engaging tour. They have a very nice spot, just wish they had a little restaurant or café, would have been nice to sit... More

Interesting tour of how the whiskey is made, with a sample at the end of the tour. All the staff are really friendly and open to any questions. Tour group is small so that you can really see everything - and only cost £7.

Decided to visit as we love whisky and we were in the area visiting balmoral. Its a bit out the way on the back road from Balmoral to Ballater but once you get there, it a great little distillery with a cheery welcome, and a good little tour. Tasting at the end and the opportunity to receive a "passport" for... More

Nestled in comfort with the Balmoral Estate, the distillery has an air of grandeur about it; from the outside and continuing straight through to the heart of its visitor care. A glass of their bread and butter golden nectar was available for nosing as soon as we entered, and the shop was well stocked wall to wall with whisky. The... More
