We visited Royal Lochnagar distillery after trying some of its namesake whiskey at a tasting and since it was close to our hotel. We had a wonderful tour with a small group of 6. I enjoyed learning about the history of the distillery (though you can guess by its name and its proximity to Balmoral castle). Jim our guide was... More

We did the £10 tour/tasting and it was wonderful. Jim was our guide, and he explained everything so clearly and well. We learned so much, and the tasting of their 12 yr. and reserve whisky at the end was a great finish!

We had never come across a dram of Royal Lochnagar before our visit here and we're glad we made the detour here on our way up to Speyside as the tour was really informative and personable (thanks to Gordon) - and the drams were a pleasant surprise. We learnt a lot about where the whisky gains its flavours - with... More

We have visited a few distilleries over the years and this rates high among them . The tour itself is about 45 mins long and informative , the distillery is small do you get to see all it's workings close up, we were there on a Thursday which apparent is the best day due to that being the busiest day... We visited this distillery on 21st May with my husband's niece and her husband. It was a beautiful day and as they had never been to this area of Scotland before we thought it would be a good day out for them with such wonderful scenery thrown in. We were very lucky as upon arrival we discovered we were the... More

Visited here on the way home from the Spirit of Speyside whisky festival in May 2014. Really glad we popped in here - the staff were superb and their expertise welcomed. The shop had a great range of whiskies to suit all budgets. Definitely one to savour!

Not knowing much about the Scottish whiskey I was taken by positive surprise. This small exclusive distillery still makes whiskey the traditional way and use human touch where larger distilleries have computers and automation. We took the guided tour. Our guide Gordon made an excellent tour and took us through the distillery processes, as well as added great jokes and... More

Fab little distillery. Friendly welcome, great tour guide (Kay), very good shop (Flavours map tea towel was a winner with me). Hubby traded up for the additional taste which as Classic Malt members was just £3. It's got it's own special unquie bits and worth the journey - easy to find as well signposted from Craithe and it's "next door"... More

We visited this distillery ...welcomed as soon as we went in ...emjoyed the tour very informative tour guide ...no cameras allowed though ... Took approx 45 mins after watching short video ...paid £7.00 each for tour which i felt a bit expensive for a tipple at end ..considering glenmorangie and glenlivet were free for tour and still get a taster... Royal Lochnagar distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery based in Lochnagar, in the Highland whisky producing area of Scotland. It can be found in Easter Balmoral, where it is signposted from the B976, the road that runs along the south side of the River Dee between Balmoral and Ballater. It sits right next to Balmoral Estates where the... More
