Ballater's former Royal Railway Station has been elegantly turned into a beautiful tribute to days past. Lifelike figures record the scene as Queen Victoria and her entourage alight from the Royal Train to be greeted by her loyal highland subjects.. As a long-time railway enthusiast, I felt that the reconstruction was accurate and most convincing Excellent value for money. But... More

This was the end of the railway line where Queen Vicroria alighted when visiting Balmoral (she resisted efforts to extend the line any further). There is a long list of digintaries who used the station and a small exhibition on the platform tells the story. The railway closed many years ago but the station is beautifull preserved and acts as... More

The old Royal Station really stands out in Ballater. Wonderfully restored and kept. Large restaurant sited there which appeared to be well frequented and the museum containing memorabilia from Queen Victoria's visits. Well worth a visit, lots of information about the station and its usage.

I went to the restaurant with family and all the meals came together, good quality, hot and all enjoyed the meal.

at the top of the town on the right hand side, you could miss it as it is tucked down a small side street. Very good ice cream.

Very interesting visit. £2 to go through onto the station platform. It is set out with Queen Victoria arriving at the station. One of the carriages is set out as to how she would have travelled here.

interesting history of the railway into ballater with a heavy focus on the royal connection (which is what brought it here in the first place)

It's amazing to stand in the same place the Queen once stood while en-route to her favourite place. She and Albert couldn't get enough of the place.......no wonder

Dropped in at the old station restaurant for lunch with my daughter when we visited today. We found it to have a very nice relaxing atmosphere and the waiting staff were very good and friendly. We both had the salt and pepper squid for starters which was beautiful. The squid was perfectly cooked (it's easy to get it horribly wrong)and... More

Stopped off here for lunch on our way from Pitlochry to Aberdeen. Parking outside, as per a railway station, but although the area and restaurant weren't busy the car park was. We had a light lunch of soup and a sandwich which was fine, not outstanding. Quite a large dining room and people were coming and going, about 14 maximum... More
