Having completed the beautiful walk around Derwent Waters, my wife and I decided to treat ourselves at the Nichol End Marine Cafe, having been advised of this renown place by another couple whom we met during our walk around the lake. What can one say....this place is simply a hidden gastronomic pleasure. The host/s were so friendly and dined with... More

I have been going to Nichol End Marine for years, each time I go it gets better, still chaotic as ever which is part of it's charm. A great place to go as a family for a day on the lake, hire canoes, dingy's, boats or wind surfers, great tuition if you need it all at very reasonable rates. The... More

We booked at very last minute for a party of 14, kayaking and windsurfing. "No problem" for Roger. Got us kitted out and within minutes we were out on Derwent enjoying our day. Quick break for some great home made cakes. Then back on the water for a couple of hours of katamaram sailing. Back for hot showers and more... More

Me and my girlfriend hired a kayak and went for 2 hours on the lake on Wednesday. Lovely place, nice and polite staff. After we finished with the kayak, we went to the cafe. They made us a great tasting coffee. We had also soup. The home made chicken soup was the best I have tried in Keswick. The scones... More

Brilliant day at the marina yesterday, hired a motor launch for a couple of hours and went round the lake, then back to the marina cafe, the real highlight prices not too bad but the food is superb and as somebody else said the Scones are the biggest you will see we got one and shared it between 6 of... Cannot visit Keswick without coming here to sample the biggest and best scones with jam and cream. Have to be seen and tasted to be believed.

Terrible weather meant we were on the hunt for a coffee stop to warm up and we were recommended this place by the tourist office in Keswick. For about £7.95 there was a meal deal, home-made soup, a drink and a scone with jam and cream. The mushroom soup was delicious, the drink piping hot and the scone was about... More

Great soup deal with soup and bread, scone, jam and cream and a hot drink for £8! Bargain, and you get to look over the lake as well.
