Beautiful building.

We didn't see the interior because a service was in progress. Exterior alone was well worth viewing & I expect inside to be spectacular.

I never knew of this cathedral until my son had his degree ceremony here. It's a beautiful place right in the middle of Carlisle city centre. We didn't get to fully look around but I'm sure it's worth a visit to see it all.

The Cathedral does not have the magnificence or historical interest of many other English cathedrals however the morning service was peaceful and inclusive. I'd recommend a walk around the cathedral precinct.

Beautiful cathedral, had to walk a little way as there was no where to park the coach nearby. The people at the Cathedral where very friendly.

You need to start looking at the architecture before you enter. So much to see. Odd sculptures that relate to ore modern times. Inside , get a guide to to show you around. It is truly amazing. \\so much history and architecture. Ask to see the brass under the mat. And the demolition of the wooden sculptures from the Cromwell... More

While walking around the city, a great side stop is the Cathedral. It is open to the public and you can just go right in. It's fun to see the different types of architecture of the time periods. You can get a tour guide if you wish, I opted to tour it on my own.

This time we visited for a tour of the bell tower,(only open a couple of times a year) and fascinating it proved to be with Ron & Maureen as our guides. Beware there are over 130 steep, narrow steps up the tower and you need a head for heights, as it requires a walk along the clerestory window level some... More

It was nice to find a cathedral which doesn't charge for entry but instead suggests a minimum donation. Four of us had a nice look round, and paid the £1 entrance to see the 'treasures' downstairs too. Well worth a visit, a beautiful place.
