Cathedral is one of the best presented cathedrals in England. The stained glass is magnificent, but what made the experience so special was the self-guided sensory trail which took me to different parts of the cathedral and helped me use my senses to appreciate more the presence of God.

Quite expensive on entry for what was there. Although the dungeon is breath-taking, the rest is bare and you may as well just look what is on the outside as it's the same on the inside. It looks like there is so much to see from the outside, but 3/4 of it is being used up and is private. The... More

Situated almost in the centre of Carlisle, this imposing sandstone cathedral sits in a nicely grassed area along with several buildings from the cathedrals construction period. The cathedral is very photogenic, from both inside and out. There is a wonderful blue and gold decorated ceiling and a fantastic large window. There are a couple of small chapels and a small... More

Welcoming staff and a good display in the treasury. The ceiling in the main Cathedral is stunning. Well worth a visit.

Interesting architecture and history. The ceiling inside is absolutely stunning. I have many, very fond memories of the Cathedral form my childhood.

Striking gothic architecture, brilliant roof and window designs, very old and full of history. Great free attraction for tourists or for services for locals. Visit the cafe across from the main doors too!

The ceiling in the cathedral is heavenly. It was probably painted to look like that, blue studded with golden stars.

What a surprise and a treat! Met a man just going into the church and asked whether I could have a peep inside. Of course! Would you like to come up the tower to watch the bell ringing? So up I went. Hundreds of spiral steps right to the top of the tower to watch 12 amazing people ringing the... More
