Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Recently went with 5 friends for lunch and a walk. Very pleasantly surprised how beautifully kept the park is, with flower beds, new childrens play area, etc. Something for everyone to enjoy. we had lunch at the café which was very nice and reasonably priced. Also later on a delicious ice-cream. Have been to several events in latter years and... More

We visited the Castle Park as part of our Historic Walking Tour of Colchester. Stunning flowerbeds, beautiful open spaces and lovely historic buildings, in particular the Castle which has a long and interesting history. A must do for anyone visiting Colchester for the first time. Highly Recommended.

Living in Colchester all my life, I have witnessed Castle Park evolve over the last 2 decades. The park (which is privately owned) is always maintained the to highest degree and renovations are always being put in place to ensure it keeps presenting a good image as one of the main attractions in this small town. The town is very... More

A truly great area for beautiful flower beds, large lawns and freedom for children. There is a purpose built children's play area as well. Toilets x 3. ! in upper park and the second is near the café, just beyond the rose garden. The 3rd is in lower park near the boating lake. Would be a shame if visiting the... More

Have been visiting Colchester over 6 years to see our son, but we are sorry that it might be our last visit as he has moved house to another town. When we could, we always visited this park. It is so well-maintained and the flowers beds are exceptional. There is a pleasant café with additional outdoor seating and the castle... More

Very nice gardens with some historical markers and of course the castle. I particularly liked walking the willow bank, and wish the path were longer.

Lovely gardens with beautiful flowers. Also there is the castle to look around in. I havnt done this yet but I would like to next time I visit. It's right basically in town which is very convenient. Lively place to go instead of being in the busy town!

went here with my family and i was a very good day. There is a museum on site and a fish pond with a variety of fish in. Lots of grounds for kids to run around in or to play football, a playground with lots of swings, bars and slides, cafes and beautiful flowers and nature to see.
