Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

'Cos I live round the corner. And how lucky am I?? Colchester Castle Park is a gem of an English municipal park. With a beautiful castle in it, which houses a fab museum. Go to the park on Sunday afternoon to hear music at the old fashioned band stand while you lick an ice cream. Go on - you know... More

This park is well cared for and it shows. The park and gardens are a credit to the grounds people. Lovely display of flowers and plenty of benches to rest a while. Also clean toilets (hooray!)

Loved the new beach area where children can happy take shoes and socks off and it's like being at the seaside . The only down side for me was there was 2 enterances so... More

We go to the Medieval Fair every year, and have never been disappointed. We choose our day to go, going by the weather forecast. Am looking forward to the 2015 event on the 5th & 6th June.. There are normally plenty of seats around the lake to sit and eat your food. Food is always relatively expensive at these events,... More

Children's play area, refreshment kiosk, large wide open space to play games, beautiful flower gardens, close to shops(leave someone else with the children whilst you shop!). Backs on to McDonalds and a bowling Centre, close to the swimming pool and The Range. Large car park next to the Castle/park area. Nice place for a pin-nic.

Colchester Castle and park are an excellent tourist attraction in the centre of Colchester Town. It houses some of Colchester's artifacts relating to Boudicca and the Iceni tribe. The actual park is verdant with a small lake and boats for children, there is also a new playpark which is great fun.

This is a beautiful park. Well kept with something for everyone. The adventure playgrounds are brilliant for the children and Essex cricket ground is situated in the park. With Colchester Castle also in the ground a lovely café and boating lake it keeps you and the family busy all day

Fun step back in time for young and old. Great displays and set ups indoors, spread across two floors. Highly interactive for kids, and when they get bored indoors, the park outside is lovely and pretty much enclosed.
