Just off Colchester high street tucked away is this old 12th century church. It really is a brilliant place to see your favourite arts. Whether it is theater, comedy or music it has a fantastic vibe. The intimacy is great and you can see everything even if you're quite short like me. Highly recommended.

I have visited the Art Centre several times over the past year and everyone visit has been great. I have seen comedy, music and poetry there. The venue has a very alternative feel to it, yet has some countrywide famous names appear there. It has a cosy relaxed feel to it Previous reviewers have mentioned the seating not being tiered,... My husband and I s Trevor Noah at this venue and had a fantastic evening. Lovely atmosphere and intimate venue so its really good for comedy. The building is beautiful and the venue is close to lots of great restaurants. The only gripe I have is that the seating is not tiered so make sure you get there early if... More

I live in Colchester and am a regular visitor to the Arts Centre which provides a large variety of concerts to take in many tastes; also live art and dance and theatre performances as well as hosting nationally known performers (comedians etc). There are two bars which will also sell you tea and the loos are well maintained. The Arts... More

I've reviewed the arts centre before but the word needs to be spread. In a two week period we saw 3 great acts. Lucy Porter and Paul Foot who are both brilliant comedians. The arts centre is the perfect venue for comedy due to its intimate atmosphere. Sandwiched in between this duo was Peter Hook and the Light. I don't... More

Go on line, get a brochure, look at whats on then book lots because there is lots going on. Some cutting edge but lots of traditional, exciting and vibrant. Good bars, excellent stage and it can be nice and cosy. Recently been to a show for kids it was great, Superb dancing backed by professionally excellent technology and tight direction.... More

I Love this place, for gigs and comedy nights its great! i have been to so many gigs/club nights and comedy nights here i couldn't even count that high. It has two bars and a great view to the stage, it has so much character being an old church and has a lot of great artists/Acts perform here.

I've been going to the Colchester Arts Centre since for over 20 years. It has an interesting line-up ranging from folk to jazz to comedy and kids' shows. Being in an old church it has a quirky atmosphere and is a good size - not being too big or too small. Prices are always good. Join their mailing list and... More
