With an original white and black beamed pavilion situated in the grounds of one of Englands premier stately homes, this is a fantastic cricket ground. When standing at the crease you are privy to a great view over the collyweston slated rooftops and the many spires of Stamford. A short dash through the adjacent wood and you're in the pub... More

The setting for this cricket club is beautiful, Burghley house in the distance and the churches of Stamford with the sun shining above them. Having attended a number of years running it just gets better. Cricket week is a must visit! Beer tent, BBQ, live band ..... Oh and lots of cricket. Thanks to all involved in the club, keep... More

Take a seat on the boundary on what has to be one of the most charming places to watch cricket anywhere. For any overseas visitors this has to be on their Stamford Bucket List. It's so quintessentially English!

This is what a country cricket club should expire to. Wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble.

We knew the House was closed on Fridays so explored the extensive gardens and sculpture park, that had a good mix of temporary and permanent works, with something for everyone's taste. The Surprise Gardens were, indeed, full of surprises, often involving water or fine spray, intriguing and fun for all the family. The park itself looks huge, but we had... More

Stamford playing at home, the sound of leather on willow, a glass of wine in my hand; a hot air balloon sailing over the roofs of Georgian Stamford and Burghley House in the distance, quintessentially English, peaceful and so very, very fine.

I visited this cricket ground while holidaying in the UK in 1995 so this is by no means a current review. I was privileged to play a match here during the host clubs cricket week but the match I played in was a full day match prior to the evenings reduced overs matches. It was a great venue and if... A well run tournament with a cracking standard of cricket, beer and food on offer I thoroughly recommend you attend the annual tournament.
