Owner description: For over 1000 years, people have been gathering in this holy place to offer their prayers and praise to Almighty God. As they still do every day. It’s difficult to tell from a website, but here we are located right in the centre of the city, surrounded by shops and businesses, with people passing our doors as they go about their daily life. Many of those people stop by to light a candle, say a prayer, or spend a moment of stillness and calm.

A lovely peaceful sanctuary right in the heart of Wakefield. A spacious interior with really helpful signage explaining the history and religious context of the interior.

My only doubt would be that access in my wheelchair was a little difficult but, when the first church was built over a thousand years ago, that wouldn't have been an issue.

This Cathedral is quite small, and was extensively redecorated during the Victorian period. They are currently planning extensive improvements, so do please support them with donations. Excellent little cafe and shop.

Right in the shopping centre stands the magestic Cathedral. Not just beautiful on the outside but simply stunning inside.I was in Wakefield at college for 3 years and I used to roam the city centre with my friends,at that age I'm afraid to say we didn't notice the Cathedral we were too busy looking in shops and round the outdoor... From the outside it's hard to tell what awaits, but once you take a look it's a stunning place to see, such intricate detail and glorious architecture, a hidden gem in our city, great welcome from the volunteers, keep up the great work

Visited the Cathederal as part of the City's Art Walk. There was a small display of work by a selection of artists. The building was bright and welcoming, lit up as it was in the autumn dusk. I must return when I have more time.

We visited Wakefield Cathedral one sunny weekday morning. I went with my parents and 4 year old daughter. The Cathedral is situated right in the centre of Wakefield shopping centre so if your looking for somewhere quiet and tranquil to visit i would not have this as a first choice but once inside it is rather lovely. The architecture is... More

The cathedral is lovely to walk around. The touch screen by the western entrance is a really helpful summary to the building and development of the cathedral over time. The volunteers were welcoming and knowledgeable. I loved the modern stained glass and sculpture in the eastern end of the cathedral. A lovely spot of calm in the city centre -... More
