For over 1000 years, people have been gathering in this holy place to offer their prayers and praise to Almighty God. As they still do every day. It’s difficult to tell from a website, but here we are located right in the centre of the city, surrounded by shops and businesses, with people passing our doors as they go about their daily life. Many of those people stop by to light a candle, say a prayer, or spend a moment of stillness and calm.

Welcoming and warm experience in this building. The misericords are worth a visit in themselves. Would recommend to anyone with an interest in architecture.

Called to look in the cathedral whilst having a day out in Wakefield.Despite the renovations which are taking place it was possible to see the work that has been completed. We did have the opportunity to converse with a steward who asked our views on the renovations.Being a traditionalist I said I wasn't keen on the modern design and furnishings but... The Cathedral is well worth a visit and you do not have to be of that faith to enjoy this building. We had a very interesting visit and will go back.

Well kept historical cathedral. There appeared to be renovations as well as community activities going on inside the cathedral when I was there last month.

Undergoing further interior work but still worth a visit. The Tallest spire in Yorkshire and the pride of the citizens. Historically and culturally important.

Stunning building from the outside - unfortunately, a lot of work is going on inside, so you are only able to get to about a third of the Cathedral. I'm sure that once the work has been completed, the inside will be as stunning as the outside.

Stunning, inside and out! After all the upheaval of the regeneration work taking place, it is even better than before.

I usually go in to the cathedral on special family dates to light a candle in remembrance. A cathedral, wherever it is can uplift your spirits and this one is no exception. I have to say though, since it has been updated I am not as comfortable in there. I know it has been done so they can accommodate all... More

If not quite in the Premier League of English cathedrals this one is most definitely high in the Championship! An elegant exterior with soaring spire that announces the city’s presence as you approach across the Yorkshire plain, a lightness of stone that belongs more to the Midlands than the industrial North, it looks like a cathedral even though it was...
