For over 1000 years, people have been gathering in this holy place to offer their prayers and praise to Almighty God. As they still do every day. It’s difficult to tell from a website, but here we are located right in the centre of the city, surrounded by shops and businesses, with people passing our doors as they go about their daily life. Many of those people stop by to light a candle, say a prayer, or spend a moment of stillness and calm.

We were hoping today to photograph the stained glass but this was not really possible due to the extensive renovation work which is taking place. The was not our first visit but the atmosphere today seemed very different to our last visit. Many candles had been lit in memory of those who died in the recent Paris massacre and this... More

Today I paid my respects to those who had been murdered in Paris. Amongst the art. The history. The architecture. A time to pause. A time to pray. A time to reflect. The atmosphere very spiritual on this day. Have been so many times and each time I annoy disappointed. Visit anytime. Consol your inner life. Enjoy the peace

Very nice cathedral, the cafe was excellent. The only sort of complaint I can think of is the fact that it was full of stalls when I visited to. Seemed a bit odd.

Love cathedrals but was disappointed at Wakefield. Work was going on and thought that everything was being updated to very modern and this is not my style.

I adore this wonderful feat of architectural splendour and upon every visit never cease to be disappointed. Although currently undergoing renovation works, the stunning building is always open to visitors. The staff run various community outreach activities and maintain strong links with local schools and organisations, regularly hosting events to attract all members of the community. The Cathedral is also... More

The highest cathedral spire in West Yorkshire. A grand monument for the city and very nice inside though the modernisation has ruined the overall effect somewhat. In my view a church isn't the place for touch screen interactivity, it should stand as a testament(no pun intended) to those men in the past that built it. Both inside and out it's... More
