This small railway museum has some of the earliest examples of engines from the 19th century however it does not open until 11 am and it is very expensive for its size. Some of the interactive exhibites for children are very good and the information othboards are interesting about the town of Darlington and its development. A short video helps... More

We discovered this by accident on a visit to the north-east. It is a super little museum with lots to see of interest and very helpful staff. The history of the railway and of the town is described beautifully -a brilliant find!

We loved coming here with our infant son. Great exhibits and lots of really great information. Not too big to walk!

Nice little museum that pays tribute to the great-late train experts of Britain, in-particular George Stephenson. They have plenty to do and see with artifacts from the olden and modern era of trains. Great information and exploration of the trains is provided so it's brilliant if you need to do research on a particular subject. I thoroughly enjoyed it! :)

The train stopped at the main central station so we had to wait for the train towards Shildon. The museum in Darlington is located just a few minutes' walk... More

At first driving round the building, I thought it wasn't going to any good because half the building was boarded up and in a very bad way. As soon as we went in, it was a totally different story. The staff was nice and welcoming, the museum was very well set out, I especially enjoyed all the history, it wasn't... More

Been here a few times. Mostly performance related as I'm a musician and have played a few special events here. It's not a big site but it is the first train station. It's a pity Darlington couldn't make more of that part of it's history. This museum is decent though. I particularly like the old rooms they've kept the same... More
