no slot machines, no juke box, no children, no pub grub. Just brilliant beer, lovely staff, conducive atmosphere and all the above explain why this is regularly the best pub in the area year on year. DON'T CHANGE A THING!

My husband and I have just eaten Sunday Lunch at the Fat Cat. I hesitate to tell you all how good it is for fear of not being able to reserve a table every Sunday to repeat the experience. It was excellent and the amuse de bouche of hot crackling was to die for. The beer was also excellent as... More

The Fat Cat is a great pub, with few pretensions - on certain evenings you can even order in a takeaway and eat it in the pub. It can be hard to get a seat or a table during busy periods, and it is often busy in the evenings or on sunny days. The beer list is epic and contains... More

A nice pub, situated about a 10-15mins walk from the town centre. It's nice and cosy and definitely worth a visit and if you can grab a seat in the beer garden and it's a nice day, then go for it! Good selection of real ales on offer here.

I have to travel 185 miles to get here. This is a proper pub,a lovely atmosphere with an excellent selection of real ales at very competitive prices. The staff are very good and attentive. Such a pity that I have to travel so far!

The Fat Cat is a traditional pub, set between houses 1 mile from Ipswich town centre on the East side of town. There are the usual pumped lagers, sprits etc. but the draw here is the cask ales, sometimes up to 20 different styles. The inside of the pub has several nooks and crannies and there's seating and tables in... More

The Fat Cat has been around for several years now and it is still the best drinkers pub in Ipswich, the beer selection is excellent and the relaxed "bring your own food" ( Mon-Thurs ) is an added attracion. The pub doesn't do music, fancy bar food or have any stupid gaming machines, it does great beer and lots of... More
