I was working for a month in Ipswich. I'm glad I discovered this pub early on and went there several times. Have a meal elsewhere as this pub is not for eaters, it's for drinkers who appreciate a good selection of very good beers. As such it is brilliant with a blackboard displaying all the 20 or so available beers.... More

Negative reviews are by bigots. This is the only pub in Ipswich that welcomes everybody regardless of background. Everyone is friendly and the beer is served on gravity. Highly recommend if you visit for football, etc.

ales poured straight from the barrel. Good prices. Away fan friendly for the football. Beers tasted ok but the visit wasn't as enjoyable as last season

I discovered this ale house a couple of years ago and have enjoyed many an afternoon in here before attending football matches. In my opinion more bars should be like this you can enjoy the banter and jokes or just sit quietly and enjoy the beer, it's up to you.

Around eight pm and fancied a jug of good ale, but the bar was lined with drunks, clearly "regulars". A patronising attitude from whomever it was who was behind the bar made up my mind. Not my idea of fun listening to stale sexist and xenophobic jokes from a line of artists that regards it as their exclusive territory. Good... More

My brother lives in the area and took me in here for the first time on my latest visit. What an incredible and unique experience. The decor in this place is truly astounding and has to be seen to be believed. It’s like stepping back in time with the wood paneling, the seating and the dim lighting. There’s even sawdust... More

A really great little pub with no pretences of being anything grand, mind you they do keep a grand range of real ales, beers and premium continental lagers, what's more the regulars are a friendly bunch too, so as well as a good pint you can get some non-to-serious conversation as well!

Some of the unusual beers in there are really tasty. Besides the beer.....the things that makes this micro pub so special are the customers and the friendly bar staff. .
