Nice little waterfront with a few restaurants dotted around. Not the life and soul but good enough to while away an hour or two.

This place has substantial potential, but all it is is an old dock, full of overpriced underoccupied flats, a handful of expensive cafes and restaurants with average reviews, and the university (that doesn't issue its own degrees) acting as a catalyst for development. This said, this place benefits from some nice events throughout the year, and can be quite nice... More

OK, the waterfront is an interesting location, but the one way system is a pain in the ar2e! The rest of the place is a dump! It's full of all the wrong people, and apart for a few fabulous buildings, it's enough to put anyone on suicide watch! So if an idea pops into your head, like let's visit Ipswich.... More

Ipswich's historic docks is slowly being transformed into a new and vibrant space for living, socialising, learning and exploring. Although some recall with genuine sadness the loss of the industrial past for this large riverside expanse of the historic town, the long and slow decline of the port and dereliction of disused warehousing has gradually been transformed into new housing,... They have really developed this area to show its best character. Great views across the water, lines of bars and restaurants and, of course, the new university. Great place to take a stroll.

There have been big improvements to the quayside, although there are still some eyesores to be redeveloped. On a bright sunny day it is a good spot for a stroll, taking in some plush boats and an increasing number of waterfront eateries. I hope the lucky UCS students whose campus spills out onto the quay appreciate what a prime location... More

The waterfront is wonderful. What a gem to have in the heart of your Town. Still some areas of work in progress when completed will be a must visit.

We stayed at the waterfront hotel very nice! The area is as said before areas are great and some are pretty awful. Lots of unfinished buildings Ipswich council have tried to improve this with children's art but it's a lame attempt as the unfinished buildings are make a big eye saw. The boats are great and you can get up... More

If you have the misfortune of having to visit Ipswich, then you should at least make the waterfront an item on your itinerary. Redeveloped and revamped it is quite beautiful with a number of both chain and non-chain restaurants, pubs and bars, and it's where the University of Suffolk lives. Lively.
