I liked the peep holes that let visitors see inside the burnt part of the pier as its interesting to see or imagine how it must have been before. It is possible to still enjoy a lovely walk around the burnt part at the start and the rest of the Pier has amazing views of the beach and seafront especially... More

This is a lovely pier- as pretty as Southwold. We feared it would be closed after the fire, but you can walk around the gutted shell at the shore-end and there are clever peep holes at adult and child levels so you can see the extent of the damage. The shops and cafes are still open for business and you... More

You cannot go to a seaside with a Pier and not walk it. So we did and although sad to see the remnants of the fire, it was interesting to be able to peer in and see what stage things were at, it didn't spoil the walk.

The scenary and the town is absolutely beautiful. It has this air of old Britain, white boardwalk, old wooden buildings and very friendly people. And of course you have the English Canal right in front of you:-)

Great to be able to get onto the pier even though it has been partially destroyed by fire. Good to see the work in progress and be a part of it's history.

We walked around Eastbourne pier to view the damage caused by the awful fire. The viewing area shown as "work in progress" showed no work in progress at all. A massive lost opportunity by not having "donation" boxes available.

I'll start with the good in the fact that this once magnificent pier is still here, but sadly that's pretty much where it ends. The pier could be so much more, the Victorian original parts still remain but are either dilapidated and in need or a lick of paint of in the case of the camera obscura completely forgotten about... This pier suffered a fire recently and the amusement arcade burnt down the work to restore it is being done. But the end of the pier is still intact and now that part of the pier is again open to the public. There are still attractions on the pier and it was an enjoyable visit.

Eastbourne had a really lovely pier, but unfortunately the front part of the pier burnt down about a month ago, (all in the press etc), but lucky the rest of the pier was okay, so you can still take a stroll on the pier, while the main front part is rebuilt. Eastbourne itself, is good if you can walk and leave... More
