A place with great landscapes that makes you feel into another time. The proposal for a pier was first mooted at the end of 1863, and highly favoured by the town’s major landowner, the 7th Duke of Devonshire

Brings back great memories for all the family. Love the place and I hope to return here regular for the rest of my life as it's where my family grew up. Great place and it will always hold somewhere dear in my heart. Hope that it is refurbished elegantly though

My wife and I have walked along this pier many times and it was very distressing to see it burnt out and closed yesterday. This is one of the great piers on the South Coast from an architectural point of view and one of the main attractions of Eastbourne. When it has been repaired I will be back again to... More

go on the pier at least twice a month, good for a stroll before or after a meal, spend a few pennies in the arcade and walk to the end of the pier to watch the people fishing perhaps they will catch more than a cold one day, and maybe have a cream tea in the tea rooms or a... More

We visited the pier several times during our 5 day holiday and were blown away by its beauty. Imagine our shock when we watched the Blue Room burn down in front of our very eyes. So sad, good luck Eastbourne with restoring this lovely building.

Just few days ago we enjoyed visiting this icon of southeast coats. Instead of another visit today, we have found the pier in fire, fortunately just part of it was destroyed. We joined many people on the beach observing Fire brigade in action (thank you very much for your effort!), with deep sadness of this. Hopefully will be rebuilt, but... More

One of Britain's great piers. It's clean and tidy and the sports bar cafe half way down has been refurbished and does hot and cold snacks, teas, coffees and alcohol. It's not a tacky pier..it's spacious and nice to walk along. At the end there is a fish tackle shop where you can hire a rod and try and catch... More

I can this pier has character which comes mostly from its historic feature which have NOT. Been modernised, some restoration was happening on our last visit yet only to the railing & a few of the walk planks the small number of shops on the pure include a scoop and buy for sweets & nut - they do a lovely... Eastbourne Pier is amongst the best I've visited with a choice of traditional eateries at the land end of the pier, followed by some quaint shops as you walk up it. There are a couple of amusement arcades which are obligatory to keep that traditional pier feel as well as places to pick up an ice cream or fish 'n'... More

Rainy days on the coast can pose a challenge to parents with young children. Eastbourne pier has a good sized soft play area plus ball pit. Very reasonable cost and no time limit for the day. There are some shops and food outlets on the pier. Yes it could do with some investment but we had fun and made the... More
