Perfect view over the city and surrounding fjord. Make sure the weather is good! Be carefull when you see more than one cruise ship in the harbour... all the cruise guest will be up there with busses and there is little room!

We have just come back from visiting Alesund and other countries . We went round the little town and then trekked up the mountain to the wonderful viewing point at the top. Weather permitting the view is stunning. We decided to walk back down and go to the little harbour to enquire about the ferries. For a very reasonable price... More

The Fjellstua Viewpoint in Alesund, Norway is place to be! Great views of a lovely town with great Art Deco architecture. In case you wonder why, the city was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904 (only the church and prison survived because they were built of stone). The old town looks like a picture post card. Have a look!... More

To get to the view point you can either walk up the steps or you may take Taxi or Hop on Hop off bus. We chose walking. You have to enter Town Park and look for way to steps. There are 418 steps and the walkway is quite safe. Equal interval you may find resting benches. Make sure to carry... More

As a couple of active sixty-odd year olds my wife and I managed the 418 steps relatively easily and certainly found the hike worthwhile. The views are excellent and tailor made for panoramic camera shots across the various inlets and islands. There are also several usefully placed benches on the ascent so the climb was not too taxing. It may... More

Whilst staying in Alesund, the number 1 attraction from Trip Advisor is to go up the steps to the Fjellstova view point. There are 418 steps which does not include some steep slopes from the Hotel Rica Parken. If you were to go from the tourist information building there are an additional 53 steps. When you get to the top,... More

There are two ways of getting up there: a very steep set of stairs up the mountain, and a narrow road through a villa area, with little or none traffick signs. But when you finally arrive, all the hassle is forgotten. From here you can get a birdseye view of the one of the most beautiful cities in Scandinavia. And... More

In the middle of the city you have to climb 430 steps and you see Allesund as you will not see from any other point. All the parts of the city each on a different Island... e

480 steps up to see over the town and the islands in the area. Not worth the effort in my view, and I am fit.

This is a fantastic view point, and a must see for all people who visit Ålesund. The interior could perhaps be upgraded, but is saved by the view. There is not a lot to do up there, except look at the stunning view, and have some food or drinks - or perhaps both :). The service was really good, and... More
