Info center and maps available at the pier. Good bus system that can take you to surrounding areas, if you prefer. A hop-on, hop-off bus and a trolly bus are located at the pier. The city itself has a few unique sites: troll faces integrated into some of the building architecture, a very nice city park at the bottom of... More

Nice staff but they obviously advertse just a few trips, the most expensive like Hurtigruten. You have to do your own search if you're on a budget as there are other ways of visiting the fjords. Like, train+ferry+bus. They are not advertising this enough

We arrived and were a little underwhelmed with the city. The TI was however so helpful and from here we found that we could walk to the old area, along the pier to a little lighthouse that is actually a room that belongs to the hotel. We found clapboard houses and the church too courtesy of the information. The leaflets... More

This is definitely the first port of call when you reach Alesund because there is so much information available from all of the leaflets and posters, as well as the staff. We came here to book an excursion to the Geiranger Fjord, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or polite. Everyone spoke English which was fantastic, and they... More

Small tourist office but English speaking staff were very helpful in planning our trip to Runde Island the next day. Gave us boat timings for birdwatching trips etc, driving routes. we bought a booklet for 30NOK which is a self guided tour of Alesund town's Art Nouveau buildings, which was a good way to walk around for an hour or... As tourist offices go, not a great deal of information about things to do in Alesund but the town is more of a transit stop than a destination. Friendly staff. Not much to do.

Good services and literature about Alesund and the surroundings. Book trips, get ideas and advice from folks that live in the area. Very helpful.
