We were in Bergen during an amazing period of warm and dry weather - there is no better way to appreciate this wonderful city and the natural beauty around it - hike up the hill, It takes an hour going up and you can go up and down on different routes - see the neighborhoods or the trees. There are... More

If you have a Bergen Card -which you can buy at the tourist information located above the fishmarket and will get you discounts or free entrances into many museums and activities- you can take the cable train up for half the cost. In any case it's well worth a visit on a sunny day, the view is breathtaking. We sat... More

If you can! Not worth paying the funicular when you can easily walk up the mountain in less than an hour if you are physically fit. I saw a young woman pushing a baby carriage with weights around her ankles and walking up. The views of Bergen are worth the journey up the mountain, either way you go, especially when... More

Took the funicular up to Mount Floyen as part of an organised tour off a Holland America line cruise. No queuing for tickets as our guide had pre-booked them. The funicular took about 60 people and took us up a couple of hundred metres quickly (300m). Not much of a view going up which was quite quick and not particularly... More

The tram/train goes up a sharp incline to the top of the hill, takes about 5 minutes and costs 7 pounds return. At the top there is a fantastic view out over Bergen, the sea, Australia (okay, not that far!) Also there are beautiful trails to walk around at the top, with pine trees hanging over you- a great place... More

The funicular is good value (you can get a return or single ticket and walk back down along the footpath). Some trains go straight to the top without stopping, other stop a 2 stations on the way. Once at the top it is fairly flat with pleasant walks amongst pine trees, a restaurant and hotel and souvenir shops and a... More
