Description: The Floibanen funicular in Bergen is one of Norway's best-known...
The Floibanen funicular in Bergen is one of Norway's best-known attractions. Floibanen can be found in the heart of Bergen, 150 m from Fisketorget - the fish market - and Bryggen wharf, and it takes just 10 minutes to walk to the lower station from where the cruise ships dock along Bryggen. The journey up to Floyen (320 m above sea level) takes 5-8 minutes. The journey is an experience in itself, and at the top you can enjoy fantastic views over Bergen. Check out the view right now from our webcam of Bergen seen from Floyen. There are endless opportunities for walks on Floyen, and you will also find a cafe, restaurant and children's playground. The funicular runs daily all year round from early morning to late evening (check our departure times).

Great fun. Fantastic view of Bergen and beyond from the top despite the weather which is not uncommon for this area. The trip takes about 3-4 minutes each way. All facilities are smart and clean. There's a cafe and souvenir shop at the top. It's also worth taking a walk further into the trees. Quite tranquil.

We had the Bergen day pass so the funicular ride was free of charge, but still we had to wait in the queue and wait for a free ticket to get through the gates. The ride itself was fun with views. On the top the views were even better. In a clear day you can get beautiful panoramas. During the... More

A great view and not a bad hike up or down. The funicular makes a couple of short stops on the way and delivers you to the top or directly into town. The troll forest at the top is also worth a quick stop and the gift shop usually has some deals on souvenirs.

Just around the corner from Det Hanseatiske Hotel is Mount Floyen, it is fun to go up by Funicular... and if you are used to mountains and/or 'steep' walks, you can do it easily by foot. People from Bergen use it for excercise, lot of people in sportsoutfit go up and enjoy the view on top of Mount Floyen over... More

Such a pity the weather did not hold up and was raining most of the time we were up there. But the views are breathtaking and as the sun came up while we were going down, you can see why everyone would make a trip up here to see the view of Bergen.

The view from the top over Bergen makes this attraction worthwhile. There is very little else at the top though - a souvenir shop, a cafe and toilets. If it's not a fine day, I wouldn't bother as you won't be able to take advantage of the view. The cost for a return adult fare is 85 NOK. The funicular... More

This is the easy way up the mountain to see views to die for. We enjoyed the walk around the lake and followed some of the other trails among huge trees and snow. We actually made a return trip later the same day to watch the sunset over Bergen. Absolutely marvellous.

It is an interesting transportation system and used by locals, not just tourists. The last stop at the top is an overlook area of the city and the surrounding region, and the view is somehow better than at the higher point where the gondola runs. As with everything in Bergen, very modern, well maintained, well operated, and very clean.

We decided to walk up the hilk from the city center, with the kids it took as around fort minutes. The walk was a blast, a stroll at and around the hilltop furnicular stop and a nearby lake was magnificent, as well as the ride on the furnicular back down into town. Certainly worthwhile if you wish to see a... More

This is a must and great value for money (you don't hear that often in Bergen)! The views are stunning from the top, the trip up only took 6 minutes and the queues are not long.
