In my mind the funicular is one of the best Bergens attractions. You pay 10 euro, jump into the car, and a few minutes later you can enjoy the lovely views on the city, harbour, fjords and the sea behind. It is nice to be on the top in summer days (if you are lucky), in rainy days (that is... More

The trip up the hill on the funicular is fun on it's own, but the view from the top is truly exceptional. The cafe at the top offers a good place to enjoy coffee and a sweet while admiring the view of the city. A must-do when in Bergen.

We were very lucky and arrived in Bergen to be greeted by sunshine. We bought our funicular tickets from the tourist information centre by the Fish Market, this saved the long queues at the Floibanen ticket office. We were able to walk straight through and didn't wait long for the funicular. It is only a short ride and although a... More

320 meters up in the funicular and a great view of Bergen. We had a light lunch in the restaurant at the top station.

The funicular ride is like any other funicular ride. Once you are at top the view of Bergen is beautiful. We took a short walk toward the lake. We were the only two for about half an hour on this Sunday. It was magnificent. This natural lake and the entire surrounding nature was superb. This is Norway. Forget about museums... More

I can see why the funicular is popular- its in town and easy to get to. The two trains are cute and the view is good from the top. However, in saying that if you have to choose between doing the gonadal and this .. go to the gonadal the views are much more impressive. If you consider yourself a... More

good to use the funicular one way and walk the other. Great views at the top, a little shop and cafe and a bigger more formal cafe/restaurant (in season). But the main reason to go up there is for the walking/hiking at the top - there are several trails at various different lengths but there are a couple of easy... More

After riding the funicular to the top of Mount Floyen we took our time walking back down into the city -- taking about an hour. It's like a rain forest in back of the city -- unusual, beautiful and peaceful. Along the way down you see dates carved in the rocks noting when that section of the walk was completed.... More

This short funicular trip is one of the most popular attractions in Bergen, and so expect long queues which can reach all the way down the street at busy times. You can prevent or limit your wait by either travelling first thing in the morning before the queue us build, or by buying your tickets at the Tourist Information Centre... More

Fun ride on the funicular to the top of Mount Floyen. I wasn't going to do until one of the locals encouraged as a must-do and she was right! Definitely worth going.
