We were among the first ashore when we docked, and walked into town. When we got to the Funicular station there were only a couple people in like ahead of us. Only waited about 5 minutes for the next funicular to the top. It's a quick ride up, the views are spectacular and the hiking trails are beautiful. After spending... More

For a mere few NOK I recommend a trip to the top. The views are great and you can then take a slow walk down over the next hour, back to the centre of the town. There are plenty of other well signposted walks at the top and, if you wish, you can take the funicular back down (but naturally... More

We cruised to Norway on Queen Victoria and as most people know the cost of trips can be rather expensive and certainly add up. When we arrived in Bergen we decided to walk in to town and do the railway before the crowds gathered from the cruise ship. The queue was minimal as was the cost and my goodness what... More

Be prepared in the winter, storms come and go like every 10 minutes. Weather is pretty unpredictable up at the top, also I would try to get up there mid day and come back late afternoon, as lots of pre-schoolers tend to ride the cable car back down from the mountain top with their patrons around 3PM. There are plenty... More

Once at the top of the mountain, you can elect to hike the 3.3 miles back down in to town, or explore one of several other trails along the mountaintop. I hiked two miles back on the mountain to a secluded lake. The waterfalls and towering pines were majestic to say the least.

I love Bergen and I felt in love with it the moment when I saw it from Floyen) it's a must see spot and don't forget to take a picture with a big wooden trol on the top:) also like that the place has a kids playground :)

We walked up and then got the funicular down - which is half price. The path was clear and although long was a very pretty walk. When you reach the top there are a lot of view finders, great views and a lot of forest pathways for further walking or a different route down. There was a restaurant at the... More

We were on a 24hr stopover several months ago prior to travelling North on the Hurtigruten. The funicular base station is easily reached from the waterfront and the fairly short ride to the top is smooth. Cost about £5 single trip). The view from the top is outstanding and we were fortunate to have a decent day. We walked down... More

We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy under the sun when you know that Bergen has 268 days of rain per year. After a short ride in the very modern funicular (you can also walk to go up there), there is a nice coffee/restaurant where you can enjoy the beautiful view over the bay of bergen whilst sipping... View from the top is spectacular at anytime of day or night. The restaurant was closed for the season. Why is that?
