Arrive early and avoid the tourist coaches and ship parties! Cost is about £8.50 each for a return ticket. Even on a misty day the views over the town are stunning. Typical Norwegian organisation - slick and effective - you are automatically counted through the barriers so no coach is over full. All get views as you go up/down. Shop... More

You just have to visit Fløyen if you are in Bergen! The ride is expensive, but you can also walk. It's not that long! The view is really amazing, especially at night when it's dark.

It is Norway, so just about everything is expensive, but the experience was worth the cost. The ride up / down the mountain is beautiful and fairly brief -- something on the order of 15 minutes or so each direction. The views are nice, the ride interesting, but what makes the experience worth the price is getting to the top.... More

Reasonable price for great 360 degree view of the city. If the line is long, buy your tickets and wait for the lines to shorten later in the day close to 6pm. Free evening concerts on top some days of the week in the summer.

Super views of the port and city. A long walk down, however worth doing if one likes a walk. well sign posted.

As far as I could tell, this was the best thing to do in Bergen. It was worth the price of the ride up and down for the beautiful view...

The Funicular is a rip-off, better take the very moderate hike, easy to do for most people. The view from the top is pretty nice.

Great views of the city and surrounding areas. Nice hiking trails through the woods. Pick up a free map of the hiking trails before you board the funicular.

Loved the view from the top. We walked down- steep but easy enough. Tip- get there early as queues grew through the morning

On clear days (Bergen rains 202 days a year), Funicular rides are always fun. The view is nice too---with a good gift shop. But in rainy weather or if you're in a rush, don't hesitate to spend time exploring the Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf below---a stunning World Heritage Site and a photographer's delight.
