This small, dark, nondescript museum along the Bryggen wharf area was well worth the visit: it's a well preserved building/home that depicts how the Hanseatic merchants of Bergen lived in the good ol' days. 3 floors worth of exhibits give you some insight into how they conducted their daily lives, with well preserved furniture, artwork, beds, artifacts, tools, decorations, you... more

We were in Bergen on June13, 2008 as part of a tour of Scandanavia. We took some time to stop in to the Hanseatic Museum while in the Bryggen area and joined an English-speaking tour guide who took us through 3 floors of rooms and explained how the Hanseatic merchants lived. Many furnishings for that time period. Very interesting. more
