We explored Norway through a Thomson Cruise holiday. Bergen was the second stop on our itinerary after Ulvik and Eidfjord, which are both worth a visit. Bergen has a great range of shops, cafes and scenes to take in. The fish market, on the right of the main town with stunning colourful shop fronts, is something to see in itself.... More

Don't be put off by the Mt Floien tag. The pathways are akin to our UK bridle paths, well sign posted and easy walking if somewhat steep in places. The views over the city both from the viewing balcony and the descending rail cars are well worth the effort. Shoemakers lake is particularly peaceful if you get there early enough... More

Called into Bergen as part of a Fjord cruise & caught the double decker hop on - hop off trip, very useful if you have limited time. Started from the cruise ship terminal and did a circuit of part of the town alighting by the fish market, looked at the price of fish, it was very expensive ! crabs were... More

It was amazing trip to the inner fjords not so far from Bergen. On the way to fjords there are many small hauses on the both sides of the canal and it looked like fairytale. I have to admit that boat was wery fast but when we got to the fjords, captain dropped speed down and we slowly went through... More

A fjord cruise was one of our 'must do's' for our three days in Bergen. The tourist booth only offered two options from the same cruise company with both boats going into the same fjord - on a fast boat with little outdoor viewing space or a slower boat, the White Lady, which had more outdoor seating. The weather was... More

Bergen is a beautiful city located in a lovely fjord. Though the mountains are not so high an dramatic as on other parts of the coast, the scenery is wonderful. People have built homes on the sides of the hills, but they are not the offensive, dominating monster homes that one often sees on hilltops in the U.S., so the... More

The White Lady is a small boat, and there is not much space to sit out on the open deck, as much of it is covered with transparent roof, due to rainy weather, I guess. The trip of 4 hours is nice the first hour, but it takes almost 2 hours to reach the beautiful scenery, which is just a... More

Fabulous beautiful are the fjords in Norway, we visited several of these in the Bergen surroundings. The clearness of the skies and the water are impressive and stunning. The harbour on its own is so picturesque one will never forget. Go and see for yourself. Highly recommended.

The old part of the city close to the harbour is very attractive- cobbled streets, old wooden houses with tiny alleys leading to more old buildings, the harbour, green spaces, fountains and a fish market. Its a lovely place to wander and soak up the atmosphere. The fjord experience was wonderful -cruising on still waters through stunning scenery. This is one... More

Seeing the fjords first hand was the most wonderful experience. The Hurtigruten excursion was fantastic! We sailed all the way to the Russian border. Crossing the Arctic and visiting many of the port cities along the way. The fjords are truly breath taking. The trip visited Hammerfest the Northern most town in the world. The North Cape plateau stretches 307... More
