Our Swedish friends told us about this place or we would probably not have gone. We had a wonderful personal tour (we were the only english speaking visitors at the time) with a musician that tells you the history of the various instruments and then will play on a replica. It was so much better than the usual museum. Do...

The musical instruments exhibited in the Ringve Museum alone were worth the visit, but the highlights were the demonstration of the instruments by the multilingual museum guides. The cafe serves lovely lunches and cakes. Easy to get to by bus from the Trondheim city centre, this museum is not to be missed.
Loved this museum. The guide, who had the most amazing-sounding first name, was entertaining and informative. He played a few instruments for us. Shame there isn't a more interactive bit for kids to try their music skills.
I waas on a guided visit and we were rushed through the various rooms. There were any things to look at and insufficient time to study them. The guide was excellent in his knowledge and keyboard playing. As a trumpet and french horn player I would like to have seen more brass instruments...
Excellent tour guides, great setting. I liked especially the guides playing on those ancient instruments.

It is correct as you say that the exhibition in...

Trondheim has relatively few tourist attractions, but the Ringve Museum should be better-known. Located on a Victorian estate, surrounded by lush gardens, it provides an excellent, personalized view of the history of western music. Most of the tour guides seem to be accomplished musicians and play many of the instruments on display----come of which belonged to composers like Chopin and...

Norway`s national museum for music.
Guides take you round the museum and play some of the instruments. In another part of the museum you can see how musical instruments have developed and hear the sounds of many of them. There are some weird instruments there, among them a drum made from the skull of a Tibetan monk, and several juke-boxes.
There is...
