We walked the grounds of this small fortress as part of our self-guided walking tour of Kristiansand. It is located on the waterfront near the cruise ship dock, which was our starting point during our cruise. THe small little fortress in the Kristiansand Harbor is free and worth a quick visit. It is not large but is quaint and has nice views. The interior has be renovated and repurposed.

While the history of the fortress is very interesting, it certainly isn't of the caliber of other fortresses such as the large fortress in Oslo. Regardless, it's worth a visit and a stroll around the grounds. The scenery alone is worth the visit.

This i a circular stone fortress intended to defend Kristiansand from possible enemies. You walk to the top on a circular wakway. It has 8 bronze cannons facing the sea. From the top floor you will have a nice view of the sea. Today it is used for cultural and other events, it can also be rented for private festivities.... More
