Easy to access by road or t bane. Very nice walk. Surprising how close you can be to Oslo but feel in the outdoors. Be warned the public toilets at the car park are not that clean. Better to use the ones that are halfway round.

There's no reason not to go here. The atmosphere, the air, the sounds, the smell... There's a reason why this is one of Oslo's no. 1 recreational choices, summer and winter! The metro line 6 Sognsvann go there. You take the metro from the central station (Jernbanetorget) and get off at the last station (Sognsvann). The ride takes about 20... More

Always people walking/running. Easy to find the way around the lake, No restaurants, but a place to by an ice-cream in the summer. Family's having the lunch with them in summer, winter you have to use ski. Just a quiet place. Subway takes 15-20 min from town center (beware of tickets, you might save a lot to have a look... Songsvann is a great point of departure for walking in Nordmarka. It is easy to walk into Ullevålsæter and dozens of other great places in the forest. In the winter it is a great place to start ski trips.

Right at the end of the Sognvann train line. A short walk through the car park and you are in a gorgeous forrest around a beautiful lake - and all only 20 min from the centre of Oslo. Take a picnic - especially water, sunscreen and a hat. And your swimming costume - if you're brave enough - it's rather... More

Maybe the most visited place in the Oslo forest areas, a nice walkway about 3 km around the water. Very nice starting point for going for longer hikes though.

The lake is very easily accessible by metro--it has its own stop--and is very beautiful. If you're looking for total nature immersion, this isn't it, but it's a lovely place to have a picnic and enjoy the surrounding large lake and forest. Local joggers and dogwalkers frequent the paved path here, especially since the metro stop before Sognsvann, Kringsjå, is... More
