We were in Oslo for one day on a cruise ship stop. We went to the Viking Museum, and Vigeland Park and finished our time here. I was happy to have a chance to see the palace at the end of the street. We did some shopping, as there are many stores to choose from. We didn't stop at a... More

Karl Johans gate is to Oslo what Oxford Street is to London or Champs-Elysees is to Paris. This street in the center of Oslo is filled with bars, restaurants and shops, and some hotels as well. The Storting (the Parliament) is here, the National Theatre and the University of Oslo (with the Aula and eleven paintings by Edvard Munch). At... More

The area is lovely the way it is, simple but elegant cobbled stone roads and pathways. There are a lot of shops and restaurants that you can choose from the Oslo S up to the Royal palace. Great for a stroll as well!

This is like London's Oxford Street equivalent but a lot smaller of course Karl Johans Gate is a long route leading up to the Royal Palace and Nationaltheatret station from Oslo S station, lined with many international retailers, such as H&M and Zara and tourist shops as well as many restaurants and bars Great for socialising and doing a good... It's alright to take a stroll down Karl Johan or sit for a meal or a drink but it food and beverage is highly overpriced and a couple of streets above one would fined lower prices and better quality food. There are from time to time way to many pigeons and seagulls in flocks being feed or going thru garbage... More

This look like the heart of the city: very nice and pleasant to see during the day; full of bar, restaurants and people during the night! We spent a couple of days in Oslo and some hours walking around here, enjoying the sun, the architecture, the life and few beers :)

Love Karl Johans gate. You can spend an entire day here just enjoying shopping, eating or having a glass of wine or a beer at any of the many outdoor restaurants. The street musicians create a great atmosphere. Easy to get walk to many of the attractions in Oslo.

It's a good location and it is filled with a lot of restaurants, bars, shops and high end boutique stores. A good place to walk and take a break in oslo.
