I was not expecting much, but this museum and the Fromm museum next to it were surprisingly good. I recommend them!

Not a great deal to see but nevertheless worth a visit to see this unique boat . If you are in the area and visiting other museums pop in as it can easily be viewed under an hour .

This may surprise you if you don't know the story. Well laid out as with all the Bygdoy museums and absolutely fine for children too. Watch you don't miss out some of the lower levels, easy to bypass the fun parts for the children. Exhibition write up is excellent but sometimes hard to read as pathways are narrow but you... More

A smaller museum with a scale representation of the Kon-Tiki voyage seacraft. You can probably skip this one.

This is well worth a visit, and another good reason to buy an Oslo Pass. I didn't know much about Thor Heyerdahl or his explorations, but learned a lot and saw his boats and other artifacts. This is interesting history, presented in a well-designed manner.

This is one of the most interactive museum in the whole of Norway, and it makes you feel like part of the Journey with Thor, proving his thesis that the ancient people were able to travel across continents, even with the primitive vessels that were used. There was a film screening of the journey onboard the Kontiki and the exhibits... More

The museum is perhaps not the most modern, nor filled with lots of audiovisual high tech - but it is very interestingly made for children and adult alike. But the story of the the dedicated man travelling the oceans of the world by vessels copied from those used thousands of years ago, to prove that our ancestors were as able... More

I'd planned an entire morning to visit this museum and in the end it only took about an hour, and that including going back around a second time. But it's fantastically done so I highly recommend it. No pictures can really demonstrate the scope of the Kon-Tiki and the Ra II - seeing them there in reality, you cannot help... More

This is a great exhibition about the man that never saw any boundaries but only opportunities, setting out to prove the impossible. This is a must-see if you do have any slight interest into the life and achievements of Thor Heyerdal.

Just over the road from the Fram museum, the Kon-Tiki might be dwafted by its mighty neighbour but its voyages were none the less inspiring. For those of us of a certain age Thor Heyerdahl was probably one of the greatest explorers; at a time when man was reaching out to the Moon and beyond he was looking back into... More
