If you are travelling up the Norwegian coast, and visiting Tromso, make sure you visit the Brewery. It has an excellent bar and the first litre is free. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We visited one lunchtime to try a couple of the many beers brewed by Mack brewery, the northernmost brewery on the planet. The beers were very nice and it seemed to us a little cheaper than many other places in Tromso, 79 NOK for a large and 45 NOK for a small. Atmosphere was excellent and friendly with the obligatory... We spent a very pleasant hour here enjoying the atmosphere and the beer - we found the `dark' beer was nicer than the `light' beer, but what do you expect from a Brit! The bar was obviously on the tourist trail as well as there were several groups in there with the locals. Just remember that alcohol is expensive and... More

Visited the bar three times whilst staying in Tromso. The beer, like all beer in Tromso, is expensive but the atmosphere is great and this is what distinguishes this bar from the others in town. Good range of interesting beers, a few snacks also available. Helpful staff all of whom speak English fluently. On the Saturday a local male voice... More

This is not a bad option to spend a couple of hours whilst in Tromso, as per previous entries the Brewery has recently moved outside the city centre, so the tour details the history of the brewery and the reasoning behind the move, rather than showing the process of beer brewing. The tours start daily at 1530, and you can... More

If you're going on a Hurtigruten Ferry, or standard cruise, this is an excellent alternative to the regulation harbor pubs along the way. Good selection of beers, and excellent pub atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Fun outing!!!

If you want to have a beer it is good people watching and is fine, but nothing to go out of your way for. I would rather have stayed at a bar near the water and had a view. It is not a brewery anymore and it closes at 6pm. Strange locals inside

Nothing really special except the title of "the northern most brewery" -- but everything is Tromsø seems to be "the northern most". Warm wooden decor and friendly bartenders. If you are in town, give it a try.

Macks has moved outside Tromso (about 1-2 hrs drive) so there is no tour but there is a quaint Mack's pub across the street.
