Narvik is a rather grim and industrial looking town and the only noteworthy attraction is the moving War Museum. It is a very educational museum, describing the battle of Narvik of 10th April 1940 in graphic detail. This is a part of World War 2 we rarely hear about. The Germans wanting to get their hands on the Iron Ore... More

We came the day after the museum had had a break-in so the place was a little disturbed. There is a lot to see about the Battle of Narvik in 1940 and then you realise how the people here suffered in the war. The museum is run by the Red Cross. It is the most important thing to see in... More

I was vaguely aware of the German occupation of Norway in WW2 and of a naval battle in Narvik but this museum provided much more information and had a good selection of exhibits too. As others have said, it is difficult to follow the logic of the layout and the written information in English is confusing; it definitely needs a... More

This museum explores the German occupation of Narvik and surrounding areas during WWII and is well worth seeing if you are a history buff. Although the exhibits have captions in Norwegian, English guides are available at the reception desk. However, the key for the guide was complicated and it took some effort to decipher. The stories and video (in both... More

This is a very comprehensive museum with themed exhibits. The exhibits themselves don't have English captions but you can tAke a guide in English around with you. The layout is complicated and somewhat confusing but very interesting material. We thought there could have been more about the Resistance Movement.

If you have time in Narvik, you definitely have to visit this museum in the centre of the city. There's nearly no place in Norway with such an important ww2 background like Narvik. This museum tells the story between 1940 and 1945 very well. Since the biggest part of the exhibition is explained in Norwegian, you can use a museum... More

We are very interested in WW2 but knew little about the war in Norway. This museum filled this gap in our knowledge. We was two short documentaries with English dialogue and explanatory briefing, and we used the museum guidebook which explains the exhibits in English (many of the exhibit captions are in Norwegian only). The museum is due to move... More

Its not really about the attraction itself rather what it signifies. If this was about importance then it would get 5 stars as we should never forget. Saying that I think they are moving to a new spot and upgrading. Popped in as had an hour to spare. A number of interesting stories to read and great torpedo at entrance.... More

The war Museum is telling the story of WW2 as seen from Narvik. The naval battles, the battles on the Narvik front, the russian prisoners of war etc. It is a grim story, and it is very fitting that the locales are a bit gloomy and dark. The museum will move into new locales across the road in 2015, hopefully... More
