We had a hire car, so drove the 10km north to the "Bob" (sleigh) run on other side of lake at Fåberg (follow 'Bob' signs). Free parking, we struck lucky, luge athletes were going down the course, what a hoot! Whooosh!! They reckon up to 80mph/125kph, they scoot past so fast! Numerous vantage points to watch from. Also went to... More

I was in Oslo and i decided to go to another nice small town near the capital. And we went to lillehammer by train. The trip was fantastic and Lillehammer is a very nice town. Near the city center is the olímpic park. If you want to make a trip and you are in Oslo, try this one and you... More

Apparenly October was a bad time to visit. You have loads of activities in Summer and Winter but in between the season the Park has nothing to offer rather than a Olympic museum.

It would be criminal to be in Lillehammer and not visit the Olympic Park. Most of the original venues remain in year-around service for public and Olympic training. You need a car to see all of it. The skating arenas, the base of the ski jump, the top of the ski jump, the biathlon/xc skiing center and the bobsled/luge run... More

Quite an experience just put one paw in front of the other and you'll get there.Of course Harry did all the work, poor lad but a really good view from the top. We saved 55k over those lazy souls who took the chair lift. Great after a week sitting in a coach. We were promised free toilets at the top... More

A must do is to visit the Olympic Park....Unrestricted walking around and even to the top of the ski jump... You walk up the centre steps....But the chair lift is by far the easiest and best way to get to the top. The views are stunning, although I am sure this whole area is so different when the snow is... It's a good walk up a steep hill from Håkons Hall (site of the 1994 Olympic hockey games and a nice little museum now) to the base of Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena (site of the 1994 opening ceremonies). But it's completely worth it to take the chairlift up to the top of the ski jump. There are spectacular views of... More

If you are not a super runner, you can drive to the area atop the ski jump. Do make the drive up and check-out the jump. You will learn a great deal about how a ski jump really works, which is just more than slapping on a pair of skies and sliding down a hill. Besides, the views from atop... More

If you are in Lillehammer, you must visit the Olympic park. The Olympics turned a small village into a bustling metropolis and the story is told here.
