Pretty much covered in about 30 minutes, the butterfly house is a fun experience even for someone not that interested in butterflies.

The Schmetterlinghaus is a great place for a quick visit, if you'd like a change of scenery from Vienna's numerous museums and cultural landmarks. As others have mentioned, the tropical climate inside isn't the most comfortable for visitors, so make sure you wear light clothing on the day you're planning to drop by. I wouldn't describe it as anything worse... More

5 Euros entrance fee with Vienna card is still pricey for place that's so small. My 8 year old liked it,though and enjoyed the bridge walkway, steps in the tree trunk and observing butterflies eating fruit on plates. The place really is too hot, especially during hot summer days. It was nice 1/2 H but the staff did looked pretty bored. The... More

This butterfly house should have been great, but it wasn't. I don't mind that it is quite small or that it is humid and hot (I guess butterflies need that sort of environment) - jungle style. The staff was extremely bored and didn't put much effort into making the visitors feel welcome. I felt really sorry to see so many... More

Several years ago I've been in butterfly garden in Kuala Lumpur and I still miss this experience, so every time when I have an opportunity to visit that kind of place I try to do that. But Vienna's Butterfly was a bitterly dissapointing. First of all, there are no freeranged butterflies as I imagined. I thought that it's a garden... More

Entrance fee (EUR 6) is a bit too much. There is not much to see. There are some butterflies fly around. We expected to see more butterflies.

This is located at the far end of the Burggarten behind the Hofburg. It is a beautifully laid out airy greenhouse and is not as hot or humid as others we had visited. There was a nice tropical feel with numerous orchids, palms and ferns. There were several rockeries and small waterfalls and a clever half hidden stairwell up to... More

We came here on our last day in Vienna and decided to go in to spend some time before going to the airport and we loved it. 6? might be a little high but it's a lot of fun to look at all the exotic butterflies and have them fly around you. Be careful with taking pictures though cause it's... More
