There were easily 50 butterflies of about ten different species fluttering around when we visited the butterfly house. They were very active, especially around the feeding stations, and in the less active moments there's always the fun of peering into the foliage trying to see where they're perched. Between the butterflies and the plants, there are lots of beautiful photos... More

We visited here in October and were disappointed. Maybe it was the time of year, but there were only a handful of butterflies, maybe 3 varieties fluttering around. Price wasn't bad, but there wasn't all that much to see. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. Plenty other things to se in Vienna for the money.

The exhibit is quite small, and very humid. Not sure if it was butterfly nap time when we were there, but we saw just a handful of the star attraction, maybe 3 varieties. I think we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. A complete disappointment. Don't go.

To be honest, if you have ever been to a butterfly house before, you know what to expect. It is not very big, it is hot and humid as they always are, but you get to see some lovely examples of butterflies from all over the world. For 2 adults it came in just about £7, so I think it... More

We went to see the butterflies here. They were fluttering all around but beware, it is a green house. It is very warm. Your camera lens will fog up. We enjoyed all the beautiful butterflies, but could not stay long. It was just too hot for us. Worth a look though.

Our visit was short, because the room was small, our clothes stuck onto us immediately because of the tropical climate, and there weren't many species of butterflies. The souvenirs also weren't so aesthetic. However, the building is beautiful. This attraction could be improved a lot more.

Pretty much covered in about 30 minutes, the butterfly house is a fun experience even for someone not that interested in butterflies.

The Schmetterlinghaus is a great place for a quick visit, if you'd like a change of scenery from Vienna's numerous museums and cultural landmarks. As others have mentioned, the tropical climate inside isn't the most comfortable for visitors, so make sure you wear light clothing on the day you're planning to drop by. I wouldn't describe it as anything worse... More

5 Euros entrance fee with Vienna card is still pricey for place that's so small. My 8 year old liked it,though and enjoyed the bridge walkway, steps in the tree trunk and observing butterflies eating fruit on plates. The place really is too hot, especially during hot summer days. It was nice 1/2 H but the staff did looked pretty bored. The... More

This butterfly house should have been great, but it wasn't. I don't mind that it is quite small or that it is humid and hot (I guess butterflies need that sort of environment) - jungle style. The staff was extremely bored and didn't put much effort into making the visitors feel welcome. I felt really sorry to see so many... More
