Maria am Gestade is one of my favorite places in Vienna. Located in a quiet area . From there very quickly you can reach the Platz Am Hof . The church is small, but in contrast, is among the most beautiful in the city.

I was several times in Vienna and always this church was closed - so now it was opened. I entered and was surprised when I saw what is inside - obviously it was renovated, but there is no info (inside or outside) in English (only German). The place is really amazing and it enters in my must see list for... More

Very pretty church in a nice, out of the way location. I liked that it was smaller and quiet. It was a rainy day so that may have been why the crowds were so thin.

St. Mary's by the banks is a unique and beautiful Gothic Church. For a Chruch so small, it is amazing that they took the effort to beautify it as they did. Really worth a visit. And check out Lola's Tapas bar while you are in the area!

Much lovelier than the larger, more garish churches elsewhere in the city. While the guidebooks slightly overstate how narrow this tiny church really is, this long elegant church feels calming and meditative.

Almost lost amongst the tall streets and other awesome places to see in Vienna is this hidden gem. I came across the church quite by accident and was simply curious at how narrow it was, stuck in the middle of two streets. When I went inside I wasn't prepared for how lush and intricate the decorations were. This is a... More

This 14th century narrow beauty oozes Gothic style (don't miss the stunning panels at the choir). While the church's façade isn't that impressive, once you get inside, it's narrow nave and very high Gothic ceiling (over 55 meters!) will set the mood back to medieval times. The organ looks lovely, but I am not sure if it is operational, as... More

Very interesting and worth visiting interiror. Things on the walls and atop are nice to look at and architectural specialities inside (I just don't know the proper names for all those elements :) ) are very nice and beautifull.

This little gem sparkles with beautiful stained glass along with paintinga and a crucifix dating from around 1460. Located about 10 mins walk from Peterkirche. A postcard view of the exterior front facade can be seen by crossing the road and descending a set of steps on other side of the road.

What privilege and blessing to have stumbled upon this marvelous church only to find it open and ready for Sunday morning Mass! The Mass was lively and reverent and well-attended. The high altar is especially beautiful, as is the unusual pulpit. The stained glass is sublime, some of which is medieval. After Mass, we were able to walk around at... More
