Arriving here in May, the flowers (predominantly roses) were in full bloom. This made for a wonderfully colourful park to visit, with amazing backdrops of the beautiful buildings that surround the park. A short walk from any of the main city centre attractions, it is a must-see. Lots of places to relax and chill out, with water features and statues... More

Maybe it was the time of year that I was here (2nd week of May) but I found this garden to be very unkempt and not much to see. I found it odd that flowers were in bloom all over Vienna, but the park was almost void of them. Maybe it's best to visit in the summer months. I spent... More

Volksgarten is very beautiful, especially with all the roses in bloom. There are so many beautiful flowers and the garden is so nicely and well tended. It is a pleasure to go for a walk in the park after a long day or just relax on a bench after a long walk in the city!

We visited Vienna during the month of March, 2015. We strolled through this park (the People's Park) and while it was devoid of flowers (too early at this time of year) it was nice to walk through. Very peaceful place.

This is the best park I have ever seen! It's just a relaxing and peaceful spot. The locals are all out and about enjoying themselves. The landscaping and flowers are beautiful the surrounding buildings are beautiful, it's just a great place to walk through or throw down a blanket and have some wine or snacks. I wouldn't go to Vienna... More

This park is not the nicest one what I have ever seen ( there is not so many flowers for instance), but it can be very romantic if you would like to make a short break or a picnic during the Vienna sightseeing tour. A lot of Austrian people are doing it:))) just laying on the sun and ering, drinking,... More

This is a beautiful park to sit and catch your breath after much sightseeing. The grounds are well maintained, large enough to not feel crowded but not so large that it feels overwhelming. I spent a good hour just enjoying the people watching and the beautiful grounds.

Spent quite some time in this park over the last 2 days in Vienna. I was in the city to run the Marathon and this place was a wonderful spot to contemplate before the race and relax in afterwards! It was laid out on the site of fortifications destroyed by Napoleon in 1809 and was originally intended to be private... More

The garden is closed and it is very private. A great place for a romantic stroll and even if you just want time by yourself. This could be the place for it.

Vienna is a beautiful city and parks like this with amazing buildings around them are all over the place. There is a metro centre here as well so it's easy to pop along to.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
