This is another lovely park just inside the Ringstrasse just behind the Hof palace and other important state and government buildings. City Hall also fronts the park. So by walking through this park you also access a lot of Vienna's history. The gardens are lovely and relaxing with plenty of seats along the walkways. The museumquartier is just over the... More

This is a summer experience not to be missed. The Volksgarden is planted with thousands of roses of every colour. In summer they are magnificent and highlight the fountains and statues that are also found here. We were lucky enough to hear a pair of classical guitarists performing outside. Lovely start to our Vienna sojourn

Lovely park, full of roses. Nice place to walk through or sit on the bench and enjoy. Do not miss Sissi's memorial in the corner.

Several hundreds of rose are planted all over the park. It seemed that we were about one week early for them started blooming as we visited on the 2nd week of May.

The garden is part of the Hofburg Palace and hosts monuments (Empress Elizabeth Monument , Franz Grillparzer Monument), fountains and a beautiful rose garden. Open to the public and worth a visit.

On a warm autumn afternoon with the sun shining, we wandered through the aptly named People's Park. Our leisurely stroll was filled with the scent of roses. Children were rolling in a huge pile of leaves and families, couples, solos and groups of friends sat on chairs along the paths soaking up the warmth. It was a delightful experience.

The Volkgarten is one of those places that you can experience and enjoy one of Vienna's favourite pursuits (apart from eating!) and that is strolling, and sitting enjoying the view. Ever when the park has a lot of people around, you can usually find a nice shady spot to sit and just relax. Perfect for after a big lunch!

The park is a excellent choice for a nice afternoon stroll, maybe with the kids around. There is place for a quick snack (imbiss)

This is a real oasis away from the main traffic. Lots of tributes to loved ones on the rosebushes make this a lovely place to stroll and take in some peace and quiet and to reflect on this beautiful city.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
