Spent quite some time in this park over the last 2 days in Vienna. I was in the city to run the Marathon and this place was a wonderful spot to contemplate before the race and relax in afterwards! It was laid out on the site of fortifications destroyed by Napoleon in 1809 and was originally intended to be private... More

The garden is closed and it is very private. A great place for a romantic stroll and even if you just want time by yourself. This could be the place for it.

Vienna is a beautiful city and parks like this with amazing buildings around them are all over the place. There is a metro centre here as well so it's easy to pop along to.

Vienna is well and truly one of the finest European cities when it comes to manicured gardens that are open for people's enjoyment, and Volksgarten is no exception. The area surrounding the Volksgarten is full of interesting museums, and the garden itself is full of locals relaxing in the afternoon sun, taking in the fountains, flowers and trees.

Really liked a stroll in the park. It had been well kept and it as very pretty. I was surprised how small it was though. A great place to relax as well as lots do people were sitting in the sun on the benches.

This is where my husband and I came to relax after a wonderful bike tour. Not only are the gardens just beautiful but you are surrounded by magnificent buildings all around so you never forget you are in beautiful Vienna.

One of the highlights of our trip to Vienna. Was moderately crowded but absorbed the crowds well. Beautiful formal gardens with tons of roses and rose trees, fountains, sculpture, and unlimited photo opportunities. Hundreds of benches to sit a while, rest your feet, and admire the lacy spires of the Rathaus and Votivkirche towering above the roses and allee of trees.... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
