The gardens at the Schonberg are very large and unless you spend the extra money for the labyrinth, privy and orangerie gardens they are just that - lots of trees and large gravel paths. The best view is from Neptunes fountain back to the palace. Worth a look if you've not seen palace gardens before - if you have spend... More

My wife and I visited the Palace when staying in Vienna for 5 days in August. We would recommend booking tickets on line beforehand as the queues are very long with a waiting time to enter the Palace Any one visiting is well advised to booked a guided tour ( our guide was excellent) and to leave time to visit... We took the grand tour(aroud 15 euro) because the imperial tour doesn't give you access to all rooms of the castle. The grand tour gives you access to the big garden behind the chateau and outside gloriette. If you want to go to the small garden, maze, and inside gloriette, you should get a bigger ticket. Great view if you... More

We got the classic combiticket, which provided access not only to the palace, but also to different attractions in the gardens. Simply put, the palace and its rooms were worth it, the rest was a tourist trap.

We have visited the park during our visit of the palace. It is nice place whether you want to relax or have some fun. It has a labyrinth which is fun not only for kids but also adults./ Záhradu sme navštívili počas návštevy paláce. Je to príjemné miesto na pokojnú prechádzku ale aj ak sa chcete trochu zabaviť. Má vlastné... More

We were here to explore the palace and decided to see the gardens via the train. WE have children and as much as i love walking it would've been too much for them. The house and carriage was too expensive and wouldn't recommend it, do it in the city, we did it via the train much cheaper and kids enjoyed... More

During visiting Schoenbrunn Palace, my ticket includes this title.I wandered through the gardens enjoying the scenes and breathing the clear healthy air.By Climbing the hill it its fantastic to see a panoramic view of the palace ,the fountains, and gardens.Really it is a piece of the paradise.

Staying in Hietzing

Neighborhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
