Nice park in front of superb building. We visited just prior to a concert so there were structures being erected and areas cordoned off. But we were still able to have a nice stroll and admire the flowers & trees.

This is a place where lots of young people congregate to meet/ show art/play music. There is a real buzz of artistic talent here & the church is awesome. There is a lift operating that takes visitors right to the top where repairs are being carried out on the frescos at the top of the church & you can literally... More

By now, there are larger ans smaller festivals happening on the large open space in front of Vienna's town hall around the year. Thus, if you want to get into the hustle and bustle of Viennese people having a good time, you should visit there - whether in December for the Christmas market or the Life Ball or the movie... The place is magnificent, however, during Xmas Market is like a story. People walking, talking to others, all very happy. It is a real Xmas environment. Even it is cold, it is very hot in our souls.

This is a stunning building and its towers can be seen from many spots in Vienna. When I first walked by they had the front of the building blocked off as they were getting ready for something. The next day while having coffee across the street there was a festival going on. I sat and enjoyed my coffee while listening... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
