Love the Rathaus! If you are in Vienna during winter this is definitely a place you should visit. During the end of January there will be an ice ring and before this time you can visit the Christmas market.

If you go middle to late November all the way to christmas eve this is one of the nicests christmas markets. Very good for children as there were pony rides, and classes for the kids to make stuff; cooking buiscuits etc... Lots of Gluh Wein! After that I think there may be an ice rink, not sure but I can... Yesterday it snowed in Vienna. It was a beautiful weather, perfect for a hot cup of gluchwein or punch, so we headed to the Rathausplatz, where the traditional market is always an attraction. It was packed with people, just because an ice skating place called the Eistraum (Ice Dream) was recently opened. I've been there before, but this time it was fun,... More

Very beautiful from many different view points. Really near to the underground station and within walking distance of the Hofburg palace.

This is a subway station away, 10 min walk from my hotel and a nice place to visit. The area is illuminated with Christmas lights during the holiday. It was a lovely place to go for a stroll, people watch and shop.

Our hotel was 5 minutes away from the Rathausplatz. The place is very beautiful. All the City attractions are a few minutes away by walk or by the underground.

My wife, 2 friends and I came here for New Year's eve December 31, 2015. The place was jammed packed with people and loud music. There were signs saying "Prosit Neu Jahr" and when the clock struck midnight a lot of fireworks. Although very crowded, it was a lot more manageable then let's say New York Times Square on a... Rathaus is one of the most beautiful buildings in Vienna. It is really worth visiting. We were there for New Year's Eve. There were too much people, but it was still nice.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
