Very central areal. Museums with changing exhibitions, cafes, restaurants, historical atmosphere. And around Christmas, there is Christmas market, which is crowded, traditional, and must to see.

There was a Christmas market when we went here in December and it was quite lovely. We literally stumbled upon this area and we were quite glad we did because it was truly beautiful!

I visited the Leopold Museum for the first time and it was fabulous. The current exhibitions were Egon Schiele and Jacometti. NOT to be missed. It is a big place so allow half a day if you want to see the lot.

Favourite bit was the Leopold Museum - also Mumok. There's quite a bit to do here - including eating and drinking options. If nothing else it can be a handy short-cut! Very safe walking through after dark.

The MQ is lovely and you can explore the buildings. Since it was just after Christmas you could also go to the coffee stalls or Gluehwein stalls in front of the Kunsthistroriches museum and it made the time spent there even more like in a fairy tale.
