We wanted something fun to do one evening during our trip to Vienna and identified Porgy & Bess as a venue before knowing who was playing. It turns out that Arturo Sandoval was performing a couple of days later, and there were tickets available. We were sold! The ordering process is fairly simple to do online, although the English translation... More

We visited in February and on the 13th we went to see a live accapella band called Straight No Chaser. Venue was packed but the table service was great and the prices very reasonable. The sound in the building was spot on and my best advice is to book early to get a good seat. Tables cost a bit more,... More

Bought tickets on day of performance, and show was very busy at night. Watched an amazing jazz band from America. Good location and easy to find. Drinks were reasonably priced and also had very nice desserts. Would definitely go again!

We had a great time attending a live performance here. The band was the Muhlsbachers USW (10 + persons; AMAZING!!) The acoustics were perfect. We bought our tickets online and that was a good idea because the line was pretty long that night. The sitting space inside Has various tables to accommodate 3 people comfortably, but be sure to arrive... More

Food and drink were fantastic! Live music was fabulous! Wonderful place! The sound system was fantastic. All seating had wonderful views of the stage and show. Service was adequate and polite. The performers were fantastic and played longer than scheduled with encores.

I was there for Ritter Karl, and his interesting "extreme" unpredictable jazz band. The drummer was outstanding. Drinks are cheap. Non Smoking venue (which I think is counterproductive when you are at a jazz club and the drinks are cheap). Staff are efficient. The funny thing about this place is as soon as the gig is done, the patrons get... More

We saw the Danish Radio Big Band perform at Porgy & Bess and it was unbelievable. I booked the tickets online about a week before the concert, and we sat in the second row of tables. The seating is intimate, but comfortable. The staff is friendly (even to us English-speakers!) and the drinks are good. And the jazz was terrific.... More

We attended a concert by Cassandra Wilson at the club. First, she is working with a new group which was interesting, particularly the banjo player, but was loud. Second, the sound was bad with a constant background hum. And third, the place was absolutely packed like sardines.

went here last night to see Brian Auger play his hammond organ with his jazz band! great gig, good atmosphere and they don't appear to rip you off for drinks prices (in the context of vienna which isn't a cheap city). the place was full and heaving which made it all the more enjoyable. my advice is if it's a... I booked seats to see a jazz concert at Porgy and Bess in advance. We got second row seats with a small table - a fantastic position - right next to the bar! The jazz was absolutely sensational - the musicians were truly talented and well worth the night out. We had dinner across the road from the place and... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
