We attended two concerts in the Wiener Konzerthaus in June 2015: one by the Santa Cecilia orchestra and a recital with Maurizio Pollini. Both were fantastic, the hall is magnificent, has great acoustics and we could see the stage very well although we sat in the balcony.

Richard Strauss wrote a nice piece for the opening of the Konzerthaus. This institution has got every type of music - classical, jazz, old music, folk music, world music. The concerts are not only in the bid hall, but they have smaller performance halls also. It can be a competition with Musikverein Vienna, who can get the best orchesters, performers.... More

We had the chance to get -very good -tickets to a reall unforgettable musical experience. The Wiener Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle performed Haydn. While I am not sure that the acoustic of the Grosser Saal matches that of Musikverein , we still have been able to perceive and admire the celebrated orchestra's unique sound! The whole building -... Although we enjoyed the music the overall experience was spoiled by the bad mannered behaviour of a large section of the audience. Throughout the concert people were talking. The music was also disturbed by the clicks and beeps of cameras. Many people were filming the concert so sat with their arms raised so instead of looking at the musicians you... More

Vienna does a great job offering musical venues that appeal to a variety of visitors. It's fine to book through a cruise ship, a tour agency, or even one of the colorfully costumed folks who will inevitably stop you to ask "would you like to see a concert tonight?" But there are other options, and the Wiener Konzerthaus is a... More

We recently saw Paolo Conte in this older treasure. Great acoustics and aesthetically pleasing. Gilded ornamentation, huge chandeliers. The venue is still small enough that we were able to visit the artist following the show. Additionally, the box office was very helpful about providing us duplicate tickets which had not arrived that we had purchase on ebay. Saved our bacon.... More

Performance of Beethoven's 9th symphony was marvellous as the concert hall and acoustics. It's best to book way ahead as it tends to get full real quick. Prices are high (the cheapest tickets cost 39€) but I'd say it pays off as it's a unique experience. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge you extra 1,2€ for... More

We have been here to listen to the Strauss Festival Orchestra on the new year's eve. The concert was great, and the Konzerthaus is beautiful, with an awesome acoustics. Besides, the organization is flawless, as we could verify after the concert when we went to take our coats back: in spite of a crowd of people, the service was fast... More

My wife and I visited a matinee show of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and were blown away. The acoustics were wonderful, the skill and personality of the musicians were second to none. This is a world class facility with world class musicians. I would highly recommend going to a show when you are in Vienna!
