Combination of beauty and history. Easy to get to via the metro and well worth the time spent. We walked the gardens and bypassed the additional charge areas without feeling like we lost out on anything.

Take time to visit the gardens - particularly those between the palace and the zoo - they are amazing. They have trained trees to form tunnels, have 30 foot high walls of rose bushes, and rooms of wisteria. Also the view from the hill lookout is the best in Vienna.
One cannot believe the size and beauty of this palace and its surrounding gardens. Absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend giving yourself and entire day here. There's that much to see and do. You can wander around the gardens, visit the zoo, walk through the mazes, take several different tours of the palace itself and dine in one of the 3...

It's worth a visit, the palace is beautiful but the gardens are fabulous. There's 1000 rooms but you only get to see 30. They have free washrooms when you enter the building to see the rooms, so don't waste money at the washrooms by the ticket area. Also, there is a free bag check area, they don't allow backpacks or...

Heaving with visitors, hot sticky and underwhelming unless you really, really love Baroque. Grounds surprisingly unkempt.
This is one of the things you should see in Vienna, but understand it is a HUGE property and if you intend to really explore the grounds, you might end up walking several miles and it can be hot in the summer. The palace tour is well worth the entrance fee even if you do only the "minimal" Imperial Tour,...

This Palace is so beautiful, lots of gold leaf everywhere. The rooms are so worth visiting, the furniture and stories surrounding this Palace are facinating. The gardens are also very beautiful and enormous.
This is a highly informative tour that takes you back to how the royals live during the height of the aristocracy. The tour also gives you an insight into their private lives, their children, and how other royalties of other countries are related to the former residents of this breathtaking residence. The palace is a way to preserve part of...

Schonbrunn is located just outside the city center of Vienna. I definitely recommend getting on the subway and visiting. Prepare to spend a couple of hours here. The Palace is beautiful, and many of the rooms are open to the public with an audio guide. I was there first thing in the morning - which I also recommend to beat...

Well worth a visit. This place is amazing and you can see a demonstration of strudel making in the restaurant. The Palace is very good and the grounds are lovely to walk around and you don't have to pay to walk around the grounds.
