Stadtpark is situated on the iconic Ringstrasse, also known as the "Ring Road" because it encircles the historic city center. The Strauss monument is the sole reason for visiting this park, just like the Mozart statue in Burggarten, also located on the Ringstrasse. To get to the Strauss Monument, take the U4 metro line to the Stadtpark stop. This is... More

This is worth walking by, even if just to see the other tourists! The statue is fine, but not the best the city has to offer (IMHO), and it is smaller than I thought... However, the best part was watching a group of Chinese tourists run (yes, run past their guide in a stampede, as soon as it came into... More

For those who are Strauss fans, this is a nice monument to stop by Stadpark. The park isn't large, so walking through it doesn't take a long time and besides Strauss, there are other memorials to notable artists, including Franz Schubert. Was nice visiting the park in winter when very few people were around as it made taking pictures of... More

Reading through the entries found here, it's funny what people are expecting. It is just a monument for the greatest composer of the waltz. He and his family changed the way of living in his time. Of course it is just a "monument", but it is the feeling you are about to get. Located a the beautiful park, where you... More

This monument took me quite a while to look for and there was not many people during my time of visit. The statue is covered in gold and looks good when the weather is nice and sunny. I am not a great fan of music but if you like music then you will like to visit this monument.

Once you see the crowds of people you will find the Strauss statue which is worthy of a photo or two. There are other nearby spots in this park that are picture worthy as well. Be patient and you will have an opportunity for a short photo shoot.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
