If you like offbeat art you'll like this. The art work is in general very bright and abstract and it was interesting to learn about the unconventional artist.

Regular visitors to the Kunsthaus as an elderly friend lives close by. The latest exhibition despite its naff name was a revelation. We had no idea of the wacky world of art shoes. In every possible shape and material, designed for everything but comfort. The oddest was the video of a man licking a woman's shoe, then biting off the... More

Awesome, I love hunderwasser, one of my favorite painters. It was really neat to see his buildings in person. Definitely a must go while in Vienna

We enjoyed our visit to the Kunsthaus ("Art House"). Our daughter is in the process of creating one herself with recycled materials, and has gotten us hooked in visiting various "outsider art" type homes and constructions. The museum was colorful and interesting, the art a little "out there", but the Japanese block prints were jaw dropping. They practically leapt off... More

A fascinating building with many features of the life of Hundertwasse. He was into many more ideas and creations than I had heard of before. Planting a tree is a great idea, not a Mausoleum. Beautiful designs and lithographs. The books available also give much to look at of his work.

If like the alternative then the Kunsthaus Wien is the must see in Vienna. It is the entire package, from the house and it's unusual architecture and decoration, Hundertwasser's artwork and architectural philosophy, and temporary exhibition of art and the shoe. The delicious food in the cafe completed the visit.

So many great museums in Vienna - so little time. But you should make time for this quirky testament to the creative vision of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, one of the most boldly original yet accessible artists of the latter 20th century - a bridge between Klimt and, say, Keith Haring. It's just outside the old city, about a 15 minute walk... More

A bit hard to get to,but with the help of locals we got there by tram n 0, then n.1 that stops close. There are cute little shops, cafes, restaurant.Really interesting, quirky place to visit, but the house itself has apartments so you cannot enter the building.

Do not confuse this museum, which is excellent, quirky and full of information about Hundertwasser, his philosophy and examples of his work and art, with the Hundertwasser Village nearby, which is really a series of shops selling reproductions of his work, and that of Klimt. Kunsthaus Wien occupies 4-storey building, though the top two floors were given over to SHOEting... More

the Kunsthaus museum is located around such a unique architectural wonder of a building that just seeing the surrounding is worth the trip to the 3rd district. The art is always worth the visit as well as it is always varied contemporary.
