Although there was an absence of snow in the city this year and the sun shone like a spring day the visit to the provincial capital of the Tyrol was nevertheless exciting and memorable. Built on the confluence of the Rivers Inn and Sill it has spectacular views of the Nordkette Alps. Strolling through the old town (Altstadt) on the... More

The Innsbruck Christmas Market stood out from the others because there were 4 or 5 separate markets in the old town area. We started at one near the river which had the carousel in it. I found a schnitzel burger that I didn't see at any of the other markets. It was definitely the best entree food choice of the... More

We had a wonderful time at the Christmas Markets. Each while having much of the same also offers something's that are unique. From a massive Swarovski tree of lights to traditional trees, puppets shows Austria brass bands. It is truly a sight up behold and to enjoy.

My family visited Innsbruck over the Christmas holiday. We live in Germany so we have seen lots of Christmas markets. There was something about Innsbruck's market that made it special. Definitely partake in a cup of gluehwein and a yummy pastry and enjoy the shopping from the local crafters.

My husband and I spent a perfect afternoon in Innsbruck last week visiting the Christmas Markets and town. The city is so picturesque, ticketed into snowy mountains, that the Christmas market made the streets come alive like a fairy tale. We enjoyed steaming mugs of Gluwein and plates of hot, yummy food while exploring the stalls and decorated streets. Vendors... More

Innsbruck, a medieval city on the River Inn offers several fine Christmas Markets to visit. There is the market at the Altstadt (Old Town) in front of the Goldenes Dachl (the Golden Roof (perhaps the most famous attraction there), another at Marktplatz (where you can find a merry-go-round for the kids) and yet another at Maria-Theresien-Strasse. (Please note: These are within... More

This lovely shop has beautiful decorations for Christmas & Easter. I salivated at the gorgeous (but so fragile) glass baubles but unfortunately could not buy any because my hand luggage allowance was already over burdened & we had another 2 weeks traveling before flying home. We did buy some lovely tin Easter ornaments though.. Nice shop to go in for... More

We travelled from Verona by train & thoroughly enjoyed the scenic train trip through Brenner Pass. Innsbruck was all 'decked out' in its Christmas colours. There seemed to be quaint markets in every one of the winding streets of the old city, really lovely street lights, a city centre skating rink, wonderful window decorations & the entire population seemed to...
