This is one of my favorite European cities. The altstadt is clean, safe and easily walkable. There are many lovely shops and eateries to choose from. One might struggle with the variety of dining options ranging from strudel, doner kabab, pizza takeaway, traditional Austrian pubs and many, many ice cream stands ( sadly, they all seem to carry the exact... The old town itself is tiny - following the line of the long demolished city walls. It has beautiful streets with the backdrop of the Alps and is often bustling with tour groups. There are some excellent pavement cafes from which to 'people watch' and several historic attractions to visit.

The old town of Innsbruck is beautiful. The narrow streets (now walking lanes) take you back centuries. Although the buildings have been renovated, they retain their period look. There are many excellent shops and restaurants in these old buildings and the view of the mountains are spectacular. The remainder of Innsbruck is not as interesting, even the Olympic Stadium seems... More

Awesome City !!!!, Loved it all the moment spend here. Lovely old buildings, interesting museums, great little shops, all with a backdrop of snow capped mountains. It's clean, it's charming and it's great. Must a visit, better buy the Innsbruck Card which cost 31EUR, valid for 24 hours from time of first swipe, its worth as all the attraction, Bus... More

Just what you expect of an ancient town in Austria. Lots of beautiful buildings in pretty colours; fabulous views everywhere you look. A museum round every corner and plenty of shops and nice places to eat. You can easily kill a couple of hours just wandering round.

Innsbruck is a nice city - for me, the setting amongst the Alps and the Old Town are really worth a trip whilst the rest of the city is quite ugly with buildings from the 60s and 70s. I am sure there are "cool" areas to go to also in those parts - but for me, we were very happy... More

Innsbruck Altstadt is a cute, small old city. Narrow streets, really nice old tenement houses. Few mimes, cosy cafe's, lots of souvenir shops. Small city mall close to the entrance. The old city is located at the foot of Alps which makes the place quite picturesque. On the other hand if you compare the place to the atmosphere of Barcelona,... More

typical old European town centre with good cafes, restaurants and museums. Watch for the Golden rooms and the folk museum is particularly good
