We went to quite a few beer houses on our trip through Switzerland, Austria, and Germany and this was our favourite. We even had our kids in tow. Everyone was jolly, there were some men stumbling... we got to go through the food hall and pick out everything that we wanted. We got our mugs, gave them a rinse and... More

I came here roughly 20 years ago as a young kid traveling Europe and this was one of the best beer garden experience I had ever had. I would always remember it fondly and that is why I came back this month. When I was young I went in the early evening and sat in the outdoor beer garden and... More

We came upon this place by pure happen-chance, as we started to walk around the Monschberg to see what Austrian residential districts look like. A massive old door, which we peered into (no real sign of what was to come), a slightly forbidding monastery hallway, another massive door and then a broad flight of steps. And as you walk down... Great outdoors beer garden set I. The grounds of the old monastery turned brewery. Lots of food kiosks serving local fare. Think half roast chicken, sausage, meat loaf etc. a lovely way to spend an afternoon or evening. Plenty of indoor space too.

If you are a beer drinker - you owe yourself a trip to Augustiner Braustubl at least once in your life. This is my FAVORITE place to drink beer - and my favorite beer in the world. If they have beer in heaven - this is what's pumped there. Not a crowded tourist-overrun place like the Hofbrauhaus in Munchen. Plenty... More

Definitely my favourite, even better than Munich! Beautiful building and gardens. The beer is excellent, just pay your money, pickup your stein and hand it over to be poured out of a wooden barrel. Lots of options for food as well. I'd move to Salzburg just to go here.

Beer is great, the food is great as well. An amazing atmosphere all the time. The beer garden is very nice during nice weather but you can also stay indoors when it rains. Sit together with locals and enjoy the music and atmosphere

I visited this place 4 years ago and wanted to come back. This beer hall was originally a monastery, and is now a beer hall and beer garden. In the cooler months everyone is in one of 3 rooms but tonight with warm weather everyone was outside under the tree canopy. To obtain a beer you go to the cash... More

This little spot was one of the highlights of my trip to Salzburg--I can't wait to go back! You can bring your own food, but there are also stalls there serving a really good variety of options. The beer garden itself is really a charming place. Large, mature trees shading the area and a true mix of locals and tourists... More

We found this little gem on our last day and I thought it was a just a brewery. Not liking beer myself I wasn't keen but it was definitely worth a visit. It is like a mini market instead full of lovely stalls selling everything you would need for a lunch, sweet and savoury and some unusual things I had... More
