this is a hidden treasure were mainly locals go. At the other end of the Moenchsberg (opposite the castle end). Very old beer halls were the beer still comes from wodden barrels. Traditional food and beautiful large beergarden.

So, Salzburg was a very "hit or miss" city for me. The highlight, was definitely having a sit down with a few friends for a few beers at this place. There were various different food options available. Most being of the self service vendor type. But, don't let that fool you. It has quite the charm. Everyone enjoyed the classic... More

We loved Augustiner! When you think of a beer garden, this is the picture in your mind. There are a lot of great food options (beer garden style, nothing fancy) and if you prefer to bring your own food, they don't mind. You can also buy steins from them for pretty cheap. Also, they validate parking. This was the perfect... More

Spent a rainy Saturday afternoon here. The perfect place to mix with locals and sample authentic food from the many food stalls. Just wish the weather had been good enough to sit in the beer garden!

Spent the day looking around the old town of Salzburg and as we had not stopped for lunch we decided to have a late lunch before our short drive back to Kossen. So we ventured into the Augustiner Brewery (Braustubl) for a meal. A truly amazing experience. Just to see the original food stalls where you make your selection of... More

Fantastic & definitely worth a visit. I didn't realise there was a non-smoking room at first, but its worth hunting down if you don't smoke as it gets a bit misty in there at times! Great place to go if you're a solo traveller too as there are some big, communal tables and the locals are usually regulars and are... More

Visiting Augistiner Bräustübl Tavern is a must for all beer lovers. The monastery brewery was established in 1621 and the benedictines still own half of the brewery. The tavern has many several rooms - or should I say halls - that have seating capacity around 200 per room. All the rooms are very impressive, but if you can choose I... More

You start by collecting a beer mug from the shelf and washing it out, then buy some beer tokens from the cashier and take them down the back where they will fill up your mug. No difficult choices to make because they only serve one type of beer, brewed by the monastery itself. There is plenty of meaty foods to... More

Excellent place to visit while you are in Salzburg. You will see all kind of people(students, tourists, elder locals) enjoying their beers. It is a must if you like beers and snacks (you buy them from shops on the corridors). The building is also very interesting (something like old monastery...?). Read older reviews also to see how this works (buy... More

For the ultimate beer house experience,The place is huge inside , a proper beer drinking experience, complete with some of the obvious regulars dressed up in ledderhosen and Austrian hats. We had beers and bratwurst, fantastic, good selection of local food to choose from all at great prices. No wine for the ladies though, they only serve beer and soft... More
