Walk, don't Ride

The old town is EASY to walk, and FUN to visit. Get a good map and wander the streets....don't forget Petershof...and go up to the fortress....so much to do in a small space!!!

I have visited several old towns in Europe and Salzburg's Altstadt is hands down the prettiest of them all. It is well maintained, clean, full of European flavors, and still retains the medieval charm and look. We took the Rick Steve's audio guide for the tour and managed to see everything in about two and a half hours (time to... More

Excellent sightseeing, beautiful setting and highly recommended as the main thing to experience in Salzburg. Relaxing stroll around town, many quaint spots to stop and appreciate the history.

The Old Town is beautiful and well worth a day or two of exploring. I'm a history buff and the old town was right up my alley. If you like history, then you will probably enjoy the old town.

Was there in mar2015 and love the place. Lots of shops, cafe and restaurants. We spend 2 days here to eat and shop. Price slightly higher than Munich. But overall it's a nice place to roam around with temp around 10 degC. Most of the attractions can be found here.

You can spend hours walking the little streets of the old town, each building is unique, with lots of little arch ways leading to another street.

We visited as part of an Avalon Cruise Tour. The castle, churches, and the cute shops make this a totally enjoyable step back in history. However, it being Sunday not all the shops were open and access to the churches was limited. We had 2 hours in a totally different time in history and the journey there by coach allowed... More

Salzburg Old Town horse tour is a must to view old town heritage. Various selections of international taste restaurants at the area. We had very nice time visiting the city. Nuce walk over lovers' bridge that is full of colorful padlocks!!

I always dreamed to visit the Mozart's birthplace and this spring it finally happened. I started with Mirabell Gardens and Palace which are more than impresive, then continued towards the old town, Mozard house and Hohensalzburg fortress. I recomend the old town to anyone who likes the baroque architecture and great shopping and eating venues. Best day trip so far... More

We had visited Salzburg briefly once before on a guided tour, and on this visit we again had a tour guide provided by Viking with the Quiet Vox so that we could easily hear his commentary on what we were seeing. The Old Town is picturesque, but a good guide, or at least a really good guidebook, really enhances the... More
