Tiny pedestrian streets full of shops eats souvenirs, fashion, history, culture. Very colorful and touristy sometimes crowded. Its also where u can find the house where Mozart was born.

I had been to Salzburg years ago as a college backpacker and now returned. It is an incredible city if you are looking for something low-key, beautiful, quaint, the setting with the mountains as a backdrop, classy on a budget, etc.. There are also a lot of things to see- Mozarts House, Christmas Markets, Sound of Music Tour, Mirabelle Gardens,... More

Old town is beautiful and fun to walk around in. We were here for a couple days but kept finding ourselves back here for bars, attractions, etc. At night it gets very quiet and intimate. During the day, the shopping is great, food is great, and there are plenty of things to see here.

We spent a couple of days touring the Centre and area around it. We just happened to be there for St Rupert's Festival which was at the end of September. As first time visitors, we found it easy to get around, and no problem talking with the store owners as almost everyone spoke English. It was very enjoyable, great food... More

We visited Salzburg mainly to do the Sound of Music tour and did mot expect to fall in love with the old town! It is full of character cafes shops buzzing with atmosphere and we were so glad we visited. We stayed in Hotel Mozart just a short walk away with great views of the mountains and the old town.
