The celing above the altar area is very unusual and well worth a visit. My favourite of the three churches clustered around the dom square.

A good deal of the Franciscan Church is an anomaly. No paintings adorn any part of the spacious nave. The upper half of the sanctuary is completely bare stone. There are huge unstained, segmented gothic arches on either side of the aisle. On the bottom of the stone column to the right of the altarpiece is a discolored, faintly visible... More

This church may be unimpressive from the outside, but it is really beautiful inside. Would recomend a quick visit.

I went to this following the Salzburg Dom and fell in love with this church. It is beautiful inside and has a very different vibe from the Salzburg Dom. When I was there, somebody was playing the organs which really added a nice touch to my experience.

I always find it extra special when there is a sort of Mass going on, on the time I enter a church. Here it was the case. Everything is extra quiet which makes the picture perfect. You have to visit this one.

Another must visit on your tour of old town Salzburg . Inside of church is visually stunning. Make sure you look up at the unusual ceiling. As mentioned in previous reviews look at the high alter designed by Johann Bernard Fischer von Erlach, you won't be disappointed. Greg

Churches are a must see in Salzburg and this is one of them. Again stunning architecture, beautiful details, heaven for the eyes. It's smaller but still worth the trip.

The Franciscan Church is often overlooked by visitors to Salzburg, but definitely rewards a peek. The internal structure is unusual. But the gem is the high altar, designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, the great baroque architect from Graz whose work is seen elsewhere in Salzburg only in the design of the Kollegienkirche (University Church)

We visited on a Sunday, the whole atmosphere was stunning, the inside was beautiful to look at and the sound of the organ and choir singing made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
