The Honolulu Chorale provided the mass music, mostly Hawaiian hymns. We were perched high in the choir loft looking down into the nave. We really didn't get to see much of the outside because we were there to perform, but we did see the innards of the top floors--old wood, very atmospheric. This is more the people's church historically but... More

There are a large number of churches in Salzburg but this one sticks in the mind because of its amazing ceiling. The architectural style is a bit different to the majority of the other churches which makes it well worth popping your head inside.

Stop in for no other reason than to leave the Baroque behind. This gothic structure is one of the few in the area. The Franciscan Church is not as visited and so seems more peaceful and prayerful. It also allows you to spend more quality time visiting. Oh, and it's free!

A beautiful Cathedral, of different Gothic architecture. It was very peaceful and elegantly lovely. It is worth a little visit. There are many interesting details to watch for, especially in the stone carvings.

When you visit the center of Salzburg, don´t miss this church. You will find a silent place with a lot of interesting details. Especially a romanic part which is hard to find in the rest of town.

Though the the Church`s past history in the early christian period is not very clear, the church stands out as an amalgamation of various architectural styles from the romantic age to the present. One sees a slender Gothic church with large number of middle class followers. The church passed through many turbulent times of destruction & fire ravages but now essentially a work... This church is an example of the Gothic structure. Its interior is better; especially the ceiling. However, I would rate it a bit lower than the Collegiate church which in my opinion surpasses all other churches in Salzburg. However, it is hard to me the Faransiscan church and it is worth the visit.

This is a Gothic cathedral...inside the decor has a much simpler design and is a welcome change from all the Baroque you are in Austria. The ceiling is definitely unique, and is the main attraction. It is worth a stop.

You are in Salzburg anyway, so drop in and see this church. It is notable for its surprising high decorated ceiling. Not too many tourists to spoil the atmosphere. So 10 minutes well spent for me.

We travelled from Vienna to Salzburg (on the very good train service) and were by this point in our itinerary starting to weary of yet another baroque church. It might be that being from the north of Europe we are simply more acclimatised to the Gothic style, but I was coming to the conclusion that one can have too much... More
