The palace is not really spectacular. Its is advertised a lot in the name of the trick fountains that it has. But they seemed more childish to me than anything else. Though they did manage to extract a laugh or ywo once in a while. A guide takes you around the fort, in the gardens, to show the 'tricks' in... More

We did not go into the palace as we did not have time. the gardens are beautiful and there is ample parking. Have your photo taken outside the Summer House - Sound of Music. Wish I was16 going on 17. the palace was traditionally used by the Archbishop and Princes of Salzburg,

We were a little audio-toured out by this time, so we didn't even go in to the palace, but the tour of the gardens and trick fountains was a lot of fun. Beautiful moments throughout with all the different areas and grottos, and the 'tricks' were enjoyed by all. There was a lot of screaming and laughing as the guide... More

The castle is a fun way to cool off on a hot day. We enjoyed the water games and fountains devised by Markus Sittikus over 400 years ago as well as the hydraulically driven and music playing theatre.

We went for the trick fountains (very fun!) and the Sound of Music gazebo (meh, just a gazebo) but it was the surrounding green space and playground that made it worth the trip. We needed a place just to play, and combining that with trick fountains was an excellent choice!

After a long day of touring 2 kings castles in Bavaria, a long drive to Salzburg, a trip on the funicular to Salzburg's fortress followed by an early dinner, our 9 and 11 year old boys did not want to do anything else. However, we made them take an evening trip to Hellbrun and they had a blast. I had... More

Hellbrunn is a short bus ride from downtown Salzburg. Its a moderately sized estate, and the main feature is the trick fountains. The tour guide made the tour humorous and interesting. Be careful or you will get significantly wet! The small museum is worth a short visit. Can be done in about 3 hours, including travel from Salzburg. If you... More

When the palace was built it was interesting to note the water tricks installed over 400 years ago to entertain guests. Had a few great miniature water displays with moving people all powered by water.
